When Yvonne was scrolling through social media, she saw an ad for a Christian conference focused on advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion in the church. She did some research and decided to buy a ticket for the event, which was three months later. 1,500 miles away and just three days before the conference, Abigail purchased a ticket on a whim and booked flights and lodging. On the first day, Yvonne spotted Abigail from afar and asked to sit at her table. The chemistry was instant! Both jokingly wondered whether they had just met their wife. After a year of long-distance dating, Abigail took Yvonne on a 20-mile backpacking trip where she proposed by a mountain lake at sunrise. Yvonne said, “Yes”, following up with her own proposal to Abigail on a hot air balloon one month later–another easy, “Yes!”

Yvonne and Abigail’s love story wouldn’t be the same without their shared love of the outdoors, so nobody was surprised when they planned a camp-themed wedding weekend at Camp Ramah in California. The couple wanted to honor their Christian values while celebrating Abigail’s Indian culture and Yvonne’s half-Mexican heritage.

Red roses, marigolds, and greenery adorned the DIY ceremony arch, where the pair exchanged vows in a woodsy ceremony with Falsa blankets lining the aisle. Bible verses and prayers were woven throughout the service, and the newlyweds exchanged jasmine garlands that symbolize commitment in Indian weddings. Inside the reception space, the newlyweds DIYed dried floral centerpieces and greenery for a rustic vibe perfect for their campground setting. Matching greenery and florals decorated a lattice wall behind the sweetheart table, which featured a burgundy runner and vases of golden blooms.

Celeste and Chris met at Chris’s birthday party after a mutual friend invited Celeste, but it wasn’t until a few months later when the same mutual friend asked her to join Chris’s karaoke night that things started to progress. After an unexpectedly fun night, they exchanged phone numbers over Venmo, and the rest was history! Chris shared that on date three, he knew: “In spending time with [Celeste], I saw that she showed grace when I was brash, demonstrated patience when I was restless, and saw the best in everyone (literally, everyone!) when I expressed skepticism. I knew that Celeste would always push me to be a better person. Four years later, she continues to challenge me positively, and I have grown and matured in ways I thought were not possible.” Keep scrolling to see how their wedding at Deepwood Museum and Gardens – singlehandedly designed and planned by Celeste – came together, all captured on camera by Bethany Michaela Studio.

Grow your own bouquet

Celeste and her mom spent the summer gathering dried foliage, while she and her friend both grew flowers with her wedding colors in mind for the bouquet and the boutonnières. Celeste even went so far as to hand dye, cut, and sew the ribbons for the bridesmaid’s bouquet. These pieces were ultimately crafted by the lovely Witte Farm.

Kelsey and Mike met as camp counselors at a leadership summer camp but didn’t actually connect until they were at a camp friend’s wedding. Little did they know at the time, but that camp friend would be the officiant at their own wedding just a short while later. The couple is the first to say that they are forever thankful to her for getting married and inviting them both to the wedding, and they are even more thankful for a camp that gave them a meeting place in common. For their wedding, Mike and Kelsey opted to write their own vows, which felt really special for them to have something written that captured this moment in time. She even hand-painted wooden flowers to include on each of the tables during the reception.

Emotional outdoor ceremony where their love began

Although Dani and Ethan are originally from Washington and Colorado, these lovebirds met in college in SLO after an incredible day surfing Morro Bay with mutual friends. (The bride says they’ve just kept on hanging out ever since!) When selecting a venue for their heartwarming nuptials, they found that Higuera Ranch was perfect to bring all their friends and family to witness where their love story began. It was also a huge perk that the venue could accommodate guests, so the couple could spend more time with friends after the busy rush of a wedding day!

Photos capture the most important moments of our lives, so why not incorporate personal photos on your big day? Michael and Fallon met at the University of Missouri through mutual friends during their freshman year in 2011. Once they met, the rest – as they say – was history! Fallon and Michael knew they wanted a destination epic-party wedding with their friends and family for their autumn Asheville wedding, so they celebrated with a day full of beer, laughter, and dancing!

Highland Brewing Co. was the obvious location choice for this couple

Highland Brewing Co. was where Michael and Fallon went to celebrate after Michael popped the question in 2021. Because both the bride and groom love the fall and wanted an indoor/outdoor venue, this location was the obvious choice! Highland has incredible views of Pisgah National Forest, so having the wedding in October meant the trees were the perfect hues of orange and red.

The couple leaned in to the inspiration that is Asheville in the fall… with a disco twist!

Fallon and Michael’s brew-filled blast at Highland Brewing Co. began with an outdoor ceremony that highlighted the beauty of the fall foliage Asheville had to offer. Asheville was full of an array of red and orange tones that perfectly blended with the color palette of their decor. A touch of disco was present throughout the day also with their 70’s-inspired signage and stationery, and reception tables that incorporated miniature disco balls into the centerpieces. A fun and funky aesthetic was the goal, and they definitely accomplished it! The teeny tiny disco ball escort display was the cherry on top of this unforgettable party… not to mention the disco ball tattoos the couple got two weeks before their wedding to commemorate the event!

Fallon is the first to admit she is not the most crafty person, but one of her favorite details for the wedding was their guests’ escort cards. Perfectly timed (and delicious!) catering made for an amazing reception party

The reception was an absolute blast, with many thanks to their amazing caterer, Catering by Corey. Having the wedding at a brewery, they also made sure to have a wide variety of craft beers and wine, as well as curated cocktails from their caterer, including a blueberry fields drink, an Old Fashioned, and a habanero margarita. Michael’s must-have for the reception was a late night snack. Catering by Corey displayed a nacho bar with warm queso, chips, and all the fixings! It was a total crowd-pleaser. Their incredible DJ, LaDarius from Mixwire Productions, kept the dance floor going all night, and also provided their photobooth.

After-the-fact advice from the bride:

“The best advice I could give would be to enjoy your wedding day! Do not sweat the little things and remember the reason you are throwing this event. Our wedding day came and went in the blink of an eye, but I would not change anything. We were surrounded by our closest family and friends and that was all we could ask for. Our wedding planner, Sierra, truly was a lifesaver and made sure that not only Michael and I were stress free, but that our guests also were having a blast. And I absolutely do not regret hiring our amazing photographer, Simon, to capture every small detail and moment throughout the day. Our wedding photos are something we will have for the rest of our lives that let us reminisce about the happiest and most epic day. Simon not only captured what the day was truly about, but was our hype man throughout the whole process, and we cannot thank him and all of our vendors enough for making our dream wedding come true!”

High school sweethearts Dana and Tyrone were married at a recently-renovated building (originally constructed in the 1920’s) located right outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Because they wanted their wedding day to be all about personal touches and romance, the couple wrote their own vows, Dana’s father created the ceremony entry pergola and flower wall, and Dana even designed her own wedding ring!

The wedding took place the day after Match Day, which is a day in which graduating students from medical school discover where they will complete residency, so there was plenty to celebrate. The base of the pergola included the bride’s new title of Dr. Cornwell-Gaston and the groom’s aspirations of becoming a coach with his new Masters of Teaching degree. And even though traffic had their ceremony guests arriving a bit late, Kayla Ketner of Kayla Ketner Events kept things running smoothly. The color palette for the day was inspired by spring and summer skies, including a range of blue, white, and gold. This inspo was perfectly complemented by the classically-trained quartet from Southern Strings.

An excellent bridal shop and seamstress made this bride’s experience seamless… literally!

Dana wore the “Elsa” wedding gown by Ida Torez from the Milano Collection and purchased at Couture by Tess Bridal in Cookeville, Tennessee. The dress itself is a real work of art with an abundance of complex floral patterns, embroidery, and appliques. The fish cut is one of the most popular wedding styles, as it creates the most incredible curves while remaining somewhat traditional. Dana looked chic and refined in this unique ensemble. Dana shared, “It took twenty minutes to find ‘the one.’ I told the sweet bridal consultant at the shop that I like different designs, and she whipped out this dress immediately. I chose it for the unique neckline and sleeves, as well as the intricacies in the beading and patterns. The gown was tailored by Hanna of ABH Designs-Alterations by Hanna in Clarksville, Tennessee. She removed the entire scalloped edge on the bottom of the dress to correct for the heels I had chosen and replaced it without any evidence that she had done it!”

The couple’s wedding planner summed the wedding up perfectly: “Dana was one of those brides that you just love to have as a planner or coordinator. She was decisive and was so organized. I appreciated that her vision was unique for the venue, and while incorporating contemporary elements, it remained classically romantic. The day could not have gone more beautifully! She chose excellent vendors, all of whom were a pleasure to work with and who worked well together as a team. And of course, her dress from Couture by Tess Bridal was gorgeous!”
