Union Station first opened in 1881 and though it has been revitalized over the years, it still maintains all of the charm and intrigue of its historic architecture. This landmark is now a vibrant destination for gathering, dining, imbibing, shopping, traveling, and yes, you can even stay there too at their luxe on-site lodging–The Crawford Hotel. 7. the ramble hotel

Mid-century mod design meets industry at The Ramble Hotel, located in Denver’s River North Art District (RiNo). What were once historic warehouses and factories are now home to some of the area’s coolest jazz bars, restaurants, breweries, art galleries, and real working studios. For a creative couple (and their crew) there really is no better destination. The moody slate blue walls and clean brass fixtures of The Ramble Hotel are a total vibe and just a tour of this place will have you saying, “Wish You Were Here”.

Bigsby’s Folly Winery is a real-working winery in a lovingly rehabbed historic brick building. Black and mauve invitations by Birdsong Bespoke put a modern spin on an otherwise classic style complete with response cards that appeared to be handwritten.

The timeless elegance of gloves

While the groom donned a classic black suit with a pop-of-yellow boutonniere, the bride brought contemporary styling through her strapless, crepe gown by Newhite Bridal (from Lovely Bride) and matching sleeves that came up past the elbow.

Elevated yellow floral arrangements

An intimate ceremony set-up Birch and Honey Collective let the couple and their florals shine by using cream and white-washed wood chairs. Yellow arrangements with birds of paradise, roses, and other twiggy accents were complemented by delicate purple accents.

A muted rainbow of flowers

Provision Floral created a beautiful fade from bright yellow all the way through to delicate pinks and purples in the floral arrangements used for the ceremony and later for the photo op and reception.

Ribbon-adorned centerpieces

The unique incorporation of a ribbon-adorned bread display, mirroring the maroon ribbon details by Silk and Willow on the meticulously handcrafted letterpress invites and menus, creates a cohesion and a bit of a whimsical flair for the reception tables. Wildflower-inspired additions to the centerpieces kept them dainty and delicate.

Modern barn venue – perfect for the entire day

Woodlands Colorado is a stunning mountain escape, nestled in the foothills of Morrison, Colorado (just 30 minutes outside Downtown Denver). The white barn at the centerpiece of the sprawling estate is a versatile, blank canvas – perfect to add any couple’s unique style into the space. You can see from the timeless groom and groomsmen getting ready photos until the couple’s last dance, that this venue offers a versatile selection of offerings that appeal to the modern bride or groom!

The outdoor landscape of the venue was an iconic backdrop for the bride’s emotional first looks!

Peonies, poppies, and pink inspired bouquets

The bridal and bridesmaid bouquets was composed of coral charm peonies, ranunculus, poppies, sweetpeas, feverfew, salvia, and phlox. While Yarrow & Spruce‘s palette was very colorful, they wanted to keep the colors on the softer side with bright accents.

The pink and peach florals added the perfect pop of color against the dreamy blue wedding party attire!

Outdoor mountain ceremony

Carina and Brandon wed at the outdoor ceremony site at Woodlands Colorado, which opened up to green mountain views as far as the eye could see! The aisle was lined with modern clear jug vases with delicate centerpieces – while the ceremony replaced a standard arch with a sunset of low to the ground florals. This is such a chic way to incorporate more, vibrant flowers into your wedding day.

Looking for a chic way to guide guests to their seats? This modern baby blue and white escort sign is the perfect touch to the colorful floral design of this day! Adding touches of single stem flowers and even a centerpiece focal point can bring attention to the seating chart and supply an extra boost of color for the happy hour.

Pops of blue reception to match the bridal party

When designing their wedding style with Brindle and Oak, the couple wanted to weave in blue accents into their reception to compliment the wedding party colors. To do this, they worked candles in shades of blue into the tablescapes, as well as adding baby blue linens and table numbers, with decor provided by Colorado Party Rentals.

To keep the tables feeling light and airy, and to really lean into that wildflower-feel, Yarrow & Spruce dressed them with mixed glass bud vases filled with seasonal focal blooms.

Live band, Mannequin Entertainment, kept everyone on the dance floor from the bride and groom’s first dance until the end of the night!

Kayla and Chris asked their wedding party and guests to attend entirely in all black attire. This choice stood out seamlessly against the urban/modern meets Art Deco vibe of the venue.

The ceremony and reception were both helped at The Ramble Hotel, a bouquet hotel in Denver inspired by 17th century French salons. The main floor of the hotel also houses world-class cocktail bar, Death & Co.

The perfect wedding guest: A puppy!

The couple chose to incorporate special details and photo-ops in honor of their sweet puppy, Harley, throughout the day.

“Get down” with light-up details

The newlyweds incorporated special signs and labels at every turn. On the wooden DJ booth, they added a light-up sign that went under the radar until evening fell and the “Get Down” sign turned on just in time for the party. The hotel and bar names (as well as the date) were featured on their photobooth print-outs to help create a memorable favor for guests to take home.

Keepsake custom neon signs

Contemporary details such as an audio guestbook and a custom neon wedding sign featuring the couple’s last name and wedding year greeted guests and provided the perfect photo opportunity.

Contemporary black and white design

To bring their modern Art Deco reception to life, the bride and groom chose timeless black and white elements, as well as clear architectural details including their seating chart with white printed lettering in a variety of contemporary fonts. Black and white linens were adorned with trendy baby’s breath centerpieces accented by full white roses.

A classic ice cream station

For dessert, the couple chose wedding ice cream and provided a station with classic cones and flavors for all of the guests to enjoy as the night came to an end.

The 1914 Beaux-Arts station is now a hub for transportation, dining, shopping, and entertainment. You can even stay there at The Crawford Hotel, a chic, mid-century-mod boutique hotel that will make every snapshot that much more aesthetically pleasing. Denver Union Station is also home to four new Colorado chef-owned restaurants so you can literally eat at a different restaurant every night without ever having to leave the station. 

Just looking to grab a quick bite? They have restaurants for that too and plenty of cool local shops where you can kill time between excursions and reservations. And don’t you worry, we know you came to have fun, so you HAVE to check out the Colorado beer hall while you’re there. Not only is Denver Union Station centrally located, there’s direct rail service between this historic landmark and Denver International Airport (DEN), so it makes travel super easy and convenient.

Right next door to Coors Field, Denver’s iconic stadium, is McGregor Square, the city’s newest urban playground. Here you’ll find the Milepost Zero food hall surrounding a 17,000-square-foot plaza that hosts year-round events like concerts, festivals, and movie nights on their stadium-sized LED screen. Catch a game at Tom’s Watch Bar, get a bite to eat at Carmine’s, or browse the books at Tattered Cover Book Store. While you’re in the area head over to Dairy Block, a walkable micro-district in LoDo that contains Denver Milk Market, a diverse mix of culinary concepts, and the Alley, a laid-back place to have a drink.

The Mile High City is known as a craft beer mecca, but with more than 100 brewpubs, breweries, and taprooms in the metro area to choose from, where do you begin? Let the Denver Beer Trail, organized by neighborhood, be your guide. Explore the best Denver has to offer while sampling an amazingly diverse lineup from Latin American-inspired brews and traditional German offerings to gluten-free options.

Denver’s urban shopping and dining district is also the city’s oldest and most historic area. Complete with glittering lights strung over the entire block, Larimer Square is charming and elegant with a nightlife that defines hip urban renewal. Victorian buildings house specialty boutiques and unique chef-driven restaurants. Shop one-of-a-kind stores with distinctive fashion and exclusive offerings, and enjoy special events and a vibrant atmosphere year-round. It’s the perfect place to sip a cup of coffee while you get in a little bit of shopping before your dinner resy. Larimer Square is located on Larimer Street between 14th and 15th Streets.

A Forbes Four Star, AAA Four Diamond luxury landmark located in the heart of downtown Denver, The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa is a charter member of National Trust Historic Hotels of America. The hotel opened its doors on August 12, 1892, and hasn’t closed them for a single moment since. The Brown Palace remains one of the city’s crown jewels today, with its stunning stained glass atrium lobby, extravagant suites, and extraordinary dining venues. The hotel’s original artesian spring well is located 720 feet beneath the lobby floor and still provides water to every faucet in the hotel. If you’re feelin’ bougie–this is the hotel for you! Even if you don’t stay there, you’ll definitely want to book some treatments at the spa.

red rocks park & amphitheatre

Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, just 15 miles west of Denver, is the only naturally occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheater in the world. It’s famous for its concert roster as well as its awe-inspiring hiking and biking trails in the surrounding park. So whether you and your girls want to work up a sweat in the afternoon or scream along with your favorite artist at night (or both), it’s a MUST-SEE while you’re in Denver.

The Denver Performing Arts Complex is the cultural hub of The Mile High City, encompassing opera, theater, stage, dance, and music. We recommend catching one of the stand-up comics in their star-studded lineup to start the night off on a high note. Even with a quick Google of Denver, we’re sure this 40-foot-tall sculptural landmark popped up on your radar. “I See What You Mean,” better known as “The Big Blue Bear,” on 14th and California streets, was created by the late Denver-based artist Lawrence Argent. This delightful sculpture peers curiously into the building, injecting a sense of fun and playfulness into the Colorado Convention Center. Take a photo or two of this only-in-Denver icon—he looks good from every angle. If you don’t post a pic with The Big Blue Bear, did you even go to Denver?

If you’ve been there before (or live there), then we don’t need to tell you…you already know what makes The Mile High City so amazing. TRANSPORTATION

Getting to the destination is always the most difficult (and expensive) part of RSVPing, “yes” to a wedding. That’s why, as cool as a remote villa in the South of France sounds in theory, in practice, weddings like those aren’t always appreciated by the guests that have to get there. Denver is home to Denver International Airport (DEN) so your guests can fly into the city from just about anywhere in the world. Fun fact: it’s the sixth busiest airport in the nation and offers non-stops to more than 175 worldwide destinations. And once you arrive, they obviously have taxi, Uber, and car rental options, but the public transportation in Denver is pretty great! There is direct rail service from DEN to Denver Union Station (right in the heart of downtown). The 37-minute trip costs just $10 each way (with discounts available).

TONS OF CHIC ACCOMMODATIONS

From glitzy luxury suites, funky downtown hotels, and intimate B&Bs to budget-priced lodgings, Denver has accommodations for every style and price point. Don’t know where to stay, just fill out their accommodations form on the Visit Denver website and they’ll help you get the right hotel for the best rate on a hotel room block for your guests. Most of these chic hotels also double as wedding venues!

SURPRISINGLY PERFECT WEATHER

When you think of Denver weather, your mind probably goes to snow, but that’s actually just a small fraction of the year and rarely lasts more than a few days. Denver winters are mild and snow doesn’t stay on the ground long so golf courses and outdoor cafes stay open all year round. In fact, the arid conditions bring only 8 to 15 inches of annual precipitation, so locals wake up to more than 300 days of sunshine a year. (That’s more annual hours of sun than Miami and San Diego!) In summer, Denver enjoys low relative humidity, making for beautiful, sun-filled days and cool, comfortable evenings. The average daily high temperature in August is a mild 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The mild weather is due in part to the city’s altitude: 5,280 feet above sea level, or exactly a mile high.

THE OUTDOORS

Beyond Denver, you’ll find the city’s big backyard, highlighted by the gorgeous Rocky Mountain Front Range. For guests who are coming to help you celebrate from out of state, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend their trip into an unforgettable vacation or a romantic mountain getaway. National Parks, skiing, outdoor adventure–it’s all waiting in Colorado.

One thing was clear from the start, this wedding was a PARTY. The bride sported a chic jumpsuit for the ceremony while her bridesmaids repped every color of the rainbow and played with fun textures like feathers, sequins, and pleather. The groom looked equally cool in his black suit with a crisp white shirt slightly unbuttoned and laid-back loafers.

Abstract neon tubing in shades of purple, pink, and orange reflected off of mirrored disco balls and tinsel making the whole space dance–even before the music started. Black metal chairs and dark wood tables blended into the industrial space making the black and white checkered dancefloor pop that much more.

We’re also obsessed with the pop of red and bright orange that set this shoot apart from the neutral tones that are dominating weddings of today. In addition to her stunning gown, the bride rocked a voluminous pony, that’s reminiscent of style icon Priscilla Presley, who is definitely in the zeitgeist with the new Elvis biopic coming out. The groom also looked cool and collected in a textured brown suit.

A SPICY VISION FOR A SEXY VENUE

The Rally Hotel in downtown Denver, minutes from Coors Field, offers amazing views to make you really feel like you’re a mile above the city. As a photographer, I knew this would be a prime location to have a spicy elopement. I knew that in order for this to happen with the vision I had, I would need the spiciest team Colorado has to offer. I reached out to Valen with Blumen Haus who I’ve had the pleasure of creating with before. I told her I wanted a coffee-colored palette but then I told her to feel free to get spicy with it because I truly trusted her creative judgment. Next, I reached out to Lina who is Colombian, so talk about spicy–in all the best ways of course. I sent her the vision of hair and makeup, which included chic and rock n roll vibes.

On the day of, I walked into The Rally hotel and was greeted by the amazing staff and was mesmerized by the modern aesthetic of the hotel. The Rally has tons of texture throughout the entire hotel that offers a great variety of photo-worthy spots everywhere you look. I stepped into the elevator that had a bunch of orange lights with mirrors going all the way up which truly was a vibe. I made it to the 11th floor which is where the magic was about to happen. Lina got there, and since the hotel is so big, I had to walk down to get her to make sure she didn’t get lost. Blumen Haus texted me that she had arrived, I went down to get her, and my jaw dropped. I knew the magic she could create, but she really exceeded the entire concept with the bouquet. The bouquet was adorned with marigold garland and reddish coral roses on top of coffee roses, with pops of yellow acacia. She truly brought the exact amount of spicy that we needed to tie all of this together.

GIVING ALL THOSE GODDESS VIBES

It was time to shoot! Kirsten was a total vision brought to life, she was in the “Sorvete” gown by Willowby from A&be Bridal, with a face beat to the gods and a messy-chic ponytail that Lina custom styled. We then headed to the roof where I started creating with the magic this insane vendor team brought. I knew for a fact that after the rooftop I would need to use all the amazing elements that The Rally has to offer, including the stunning modern bathroom. I just had to have Kirsten and RJ hop into that bathtub in true rockstar fashion, and I must say it was the best way to end the night!

SOME ADVICE FROM THE PRO

1. Trust Yo’self-when you have a vision stick to it and pick friends willing to help you execute that vision.
