unique denver wedding venuesFlorals:

Denver has always been a vacay destination, but now, couples are flocking to the “Mile High City” to tie the knot. And with venues like these, it’s easy to see why. Home to so many unique historic industrial buildings, Denver has become a playground for interior designers and event planners alike. From a glamourous old train station to an old warehouse where they once fashioned entire ships out of steel, these repurposed and rehabbed slices of history make for some truly unique wedding venues we’ve ever seen. Here are 10 of our favorite Denver venues–and you won’t believe how affordable they all are!

1. union station

Known as “The Crown Jewel of Denver”, Union Station is one of the most unique wedding venues we’ve ever seen. Union Station first opened in 1881 and though it has been revitalized over the years, it still maintains all of the charm and intrigue of its historic architecture. This landmark is now a vibrant destination for gathering, dining, imbibing, shopping, traveling, and yes, you can even stay there too at their luxe on-site lodging–The Crawford Hotel. We always say these are the qualities that couples should look for in a wedding venue: good bones, ease of access for you and your guests, and good food and drink…and this venue in the heart of Denver has it all! Oh, and it’s open 24/7, 365 so the party never has to end.

2. the cooper lounge

By night, you and your guests can take in the twinkling lights of downtown Denver as you sip high-end cocktails and enjoy a one-of-a-kind dining experience. This stunning space boasts sky-high ceilings, and a fusion of modern metallics and subtle nods to the interior’s inspiration, elegant locomotives like The Orient Express and California Zephyr trains. Whether you’re looking for a cool space for your rehearsal dinner or a unique wedding reception, you and your guests will be talking about your night at The Cooper Lounge for years to come.

3. blanc

6. moss denver

7. the ramble hotel

Mid-century mod design meets industry at The Ramble Hotel, located in Denver’s River North Art District (RiNo). For a creative couple (and their crew) there really is no better destination. The moody slate blue walls and clean brass fixtures of The Ramble Hotel are a total vibe and just a tour of this place will have you saying, “Wish You Were Here”.

8. bigsby’s folly winery

Bigsby’s Folly Winery is a real-working winery in a lovingly rehabbed historic brick building. You and your guests can enjoy a tour of the facilities (with wine tasting) before sitting down to one of the best meals Denver has to offer, then send your guests off with a bottle of wine to say thank you. Ok, we know what you’re thinking…but this is not your average hostel! It’s all the charm and character that you won’t find at a hotel and it’s run by a family who appreciates the finer things in life and know you do too. Perfect for a micro-wedding, The Eleventh Avenue Hostel can accommodate up to 50 guests…and you guys can stay there too!

10. mile high station

And the multi-level layout makes it perfect for dining and dancing the night away.

bachelorette party at union station in denver Colorado

We’ve seen a lot of bachelorette parties (like A LOT!), and once you’ve seen one Vegas, Nashville, or Palm Springs bachelorette, you’ve seen them all. Plus, you’re at that age where all of your friends are getting engaged, so at some point, you’ll end up doubling up on the same itinerary. Well, babe, it’s your turn now (yay, you’re engaged!), so why not take the opportunity to spice things up? What about Denver, CO??? If you’ve never been allow us to sing its praises for a bit, but once you and your crew arrive, you won’t need any more convincing. Here’s your guide to having the best bachelorette weekend in The Mile High City

hit up or stay at denver union station

union station in denver Colorado at night

Denver Union Station is an old-school train station. Think Anna Karenina or Harry Potter. It is a local landmark and has recently undergone a massive restoration and re-development that has made it a destination in its own right in the heart of downtown.

The 1914 Beaux-Arts station is now a hub for transportation, dining, shopping, and entertainment. You can even stay there at The Crawford Hotel, a chic, mid-century-mod boutique hotel that will make every snapshot that much more aesthetically pleasing. Denver Union Station is also home to four new Colorado chef-owned restaurants so you can literally eat at a different restaurant every night without ever having to leave the station.

Just looking to grab a quick bite? They have restaurants for that too and plenty of cool local shops where you can kill time between excursions and reservations. And don’t you worry, we know you came to have fun, so you HAVE to check out the Colorado beer hall while you’re there. Not only is Denver Union Station centrally located, there’s direct rail service between this historic landmark and Denver International Airport (DEN), so it makes travel super easy and convenient.

mcGregor square and Denver milk market

McGregor Square big screen on the lawn in denver colorado

Right next door to Coors Field, Denver’s iconic stadium, is McGregor Square, the city’s newest urban playground. Here you’ll find the Milepost Zero food hall surrounding a 17,000-square-foot plaza that hosts year-round events like concerts, festivals, and movie nights on their stadium-sized LED screen. Catch a game at Tom’s Watch Bar, get a bite to eat at Carmine’s, or browse the books at Tattered Cover Book Store. Even with a quick Google of Denver, we’re sure this 40-foot-tall sculptural landmark popped up on your radar. “I See What You Mean,” better known as “The Big Blue Bear,” on 14th and California streets, was created by the late Denver-based artist Lawrence Argent. This delightful sculpture peers curiously into the building, injecting a sense of fun and playfulness into the Colorado Convention Center. Take a photo or two of this only-in-Denver icon—he looks good from every angle. If you don’t post a pic with The Big Blue Bear, did you even go to Denver?

When all of your family and friends are spread out across the country (or even the globe) it can be hard to decide on a location for your big day. You could have it where you live and make everyone come to you. Or you could do it where you grew up…but what if you grew up in different places? We’ve found that the best, least controversial way to make everyone happy is to pick a neutral (physically and emotionally) destination and meet up there. Of course, it helps if that destination is inherently cool and a vacation spot in its own right. What about Denver?

rooftop wedding with two grooms in denver

While it may not have been the first wedding destination that came to mind, Denver has so much to offer and will have your guests falling in love from the moment they arrive. If you’ve been there before (or live there), then we don’t need to tell you…you already know what makes The Mile High City so amazing. But for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure yet, here are just 5 of the many reasons why your guests will love a wedding in Denver…

TRANSPORTATION

denver international airport with mountains in the background

Getting to the destination is always the most difficult (and expensive) part of RSVPing, “yes” to a wedding. That’s why, as cool as a remote villa in the South of France sounds in theory, in practice, weddings like those aren’t always appreciated by the guests that have to get there. Denver is home to Denver International Airport (DEN) so your guests can fly into the city from just about anywhere in the world. Fun fact: it’s the sixth busiest airport in the nation and offers non-stops to more than 175 worldwide destinations. And once you arrive, they obviously have taxi, Uber, and car rental options, but the public transportation in Denver is pretty great! There is direct rail service from DEN to Denver Union Station (right in the heart of downtown). The 37-minute trip costs just $10 each way (with discounts available).

TONS OF CHIC ACCOMMODATIONS

From glitzy luxury suites, funky downtown hotels, and intimate B&Bs to budget-priced lodgings, Denver has accommodations for every style and price point. Don’t know where to stay, just fill out their accommodations form on the Visit Denver website and they’ll help you get the right hotel for the best rate on a hotel room block for your guests. Most of these chic hotels also double as wedding venues!

SURPRISINGLY PERFECT WEATHER

Arrowhead golf course wedding

When you think of Denver weather, your mind probably goes to snow, but that’s actually just a small fraction of the year and rarely lasts more than a few days. Denver winters are mild and snow doesn’t stay on the ground long so golf courses and outdoor cafes stay open all year round. In fact, the arid conditions bring only 8 to 15 inches of annual precipitation, so locals wake up to more than 300 days of sunshine a year. (That’s more annual hours of sun than Miami and San Diego!) In summer, Denver enjoys low relative humidity, making for beautiful, sun-filled days and cool, comfortable evenings. The average daily high temperature in August is a mild 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The mild weather is due in part to the city’s altitude: 5,280 feet above sea level, or exactly a mile high.

THE OUTDOORS

Beyond Denver, you’ll find the city’s big backyard, highlighted by the gorgeous Rocky Mountain Front Range. For guests who are coming to help you celebrate from out of state, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend their trip into an unforgettable vacation or a romantic mountain getaway. National Parks, skiing, outdoor adventure–it’s all waiting in Colorado.

SPORTS

If you and your crew like sports, Denver is where you want to be. It’s home to no less than six professional sports teams that thrill sold-out crowds year-round. Basketball, baseball, football, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, rugby–Denver’s got it all, with some of the world’s best athletes on the rosters. No matter the time of year, there will be some type of professional sporting event that your guests can attend.

One thing was clear from the start, this wedding was a PARTY. The bride sported a chic jumpsuit for the ceremony while her bridesmaids repped every color of the rainbow and played with fun textures like feathers, sequins, and pleather. The groom looked equally cool in his black suit with a crisp white shirt slightly unbuttoned and laid-back loafers.

Bride Casey came to her planner Erin asking for anything “cool and unexpected” for the wedding day. She knew she envisioned a fun and casual wedding with no formal seating and loved the idea of a cocktail-style dinner service. So SKYLIGHT and this talented vendor team did just that and created a mostly standing ceremony with little overhead lighting, but rather lit by candles and neon lights.

Abstract neon tubing in shades of purple, pink, and orange reflected off of mirrored disco balls and tinsel making the whole space dance–even before the music started. Some favorite details of the night were the espresso martini shots guests enjoyed with the couple at their sweetheart lounge, the grazing table, and of course, the retro taxi that was parked inside the venue for photo ops. To top it all off, Casey & Dan offered “Peaches n Creme” for dessert, an ode to their love story, because on their very first date, they both happened to have a peach with them in their bags as a snack for later! It turned out, they got to have all of their peaches together from then on.

From the billowing sleeves and plunging neckline of the gown to the warm autumn tones, this sexy styled shoot is giving us major 70s vibes and we’re living for it! We’re also obsessed with the pop of red and bright orange that set this shoot apart from the neutral tones that are dominating weddings of today. In addition to her stunning gown, the bride rocked a voluminous pony, that’s reminiscent of style icon Priscilla Presley, who is definitely in the zeitgeist with the new Elvis biopic coming out. The groom also looked cool and collected in a textured brown suit.

These photos by Kasitimbay Photography capture the trippy spirit of the disco era. Kasitimbay Photography was inspired by the sleek and sexy design of The Rally Hotel. They teamed up with Blumen Haus to create coffee-toned florals and was over the moon when they introduced some bright colors into the mix. Keep reading to hear more from Kasitimbay Photography about how everything came together to create this magic. For even more inspo, be sure to check out the full gallery!

A SPICY VISION FOR A SEXY VENUE

Electric Rooftop Elopement

The Rally Hotel in downtown Denver, minutes from Coors Field, offers amazing views to make you really feel like you’re a mile above the city. As a photographer, I knew this would be a prime location to have a spicy elopement. I knew that in order for this to happen with the vision I had, I would need the spiciest team Colorado has to offer. I reached out to Valen with Blumen Haus who I’ve had the pleasure of creating with before. I told her I wanted a coffee-colored palette but then I told her to feel free to get spicy with it because I truly trusted her creative judgment. Next, I reached out to Lina who is Colombian, so talk about spicy–in all the best ways of course. I sent her the vision of hair and makeup, which included chic and rock n roll vibes.

On the day of, I walked into The Rally hotel and was greeted by the amazing staff and was mesmerized by the modern aesthetic of the hotel. The Rally has tons of texture throughout the entire hotel that offers a great variety of photo-worthy spots everywhere you look. I stepped into the elevator that had a bunch of orange lights with mirrors going all the way up which truly was a vibe. I made it to the 11th floor which is where the magic was about to happen. Lina got there, and since the hotel is so big, I had to walk down to get her to make sure she didn’t get lost. Blumen Haus texted me that she had arrived, I went down to get her, and my jaw dropped. I knew the magic she could create, but she really exceeded the entire concept with the bouquet. The bouquet was adorned with marigold garland and reddish coral roses on top of coffee roses, with pops of yellow acacia. She truly brought the exact amount of spicy that we needed to tie all of this together.

GIVING ALL THOSE GODDESS VIBES

It was time to shoot! Kirsten was a total vision brought to life, she was in the “Sorvete” gown by Willowby from A&be Bridal, with a face beat to the gods and a messy-chic ponytail that Lina custom styled. We then headed to the roof where I started creating with the magic this insane vendor team brought. I knew for a fact that after the rooftop I would need to use all the amazing elements that The Rally has to offer, including the stunning modern bathroom. I just had to have Kirsten and RJ hop into that bathtub in true rockstar fashion, and I must say it was the best way to end the night!

SOME ADVICE FROM THE PRO

Electric Rooftop Elopement

1. Trust Yo’self-when you have a vision stick to it and pick friends willing to help you execute that vision.

2. Location-scouting locations can be time-consuming but always pays off.

3. Vibe with your Vendors- you not only love their art but also love their vibe. It’s important the florist has creative direction and self-expression in florals, that’s how all the magic happens.
