This inspirational shoot was located at a stunning villa on Ios, one of Greece’s most beautiful wedding venues. Kimberly, the mastermind behind Cycladic Gem, has poured her heart into designing every detail of the villa. With her husband Giannis’s craftsmanship, including the in-house amphitheater, they ensure each event is unique and special. This shoot was particularly special, marking the first-ever dinner hosted in the amphitheater, traditionally used for wedding ceremonies.

For this enchanting occasion, the planners chose a dress from Ritual Unions Berlin that perfectly matched the dreamy setting. The gown from Ritual Unions and the blue and white floral tie matched perfectly with the flatlays, invitations, and flowers on the plates. The bride’s flawless makeup and hair by Fiona from Atelier Refine added the final touch. The exquisite wedding rings were provided by Marc Stich.

The groom wore a navy suit with a blue and white floral tie from Männersache Fritzlar, tying everything together perfectly.

Color Palette Inspired By The Aegean Sea

Inspired by the Cycladic sea’s colors, they opted for custom-made tablecloths in shades of the Aegean Sea from Spark Event Rentals. This created a dreamy dining experience with beautiful flower plates that reflected nature. Carefully arranged flatlays, wedding invitations, and blue menus harmonized beautifully with the floral designs on the plates.

The Inspiration

Their incredible team brought the vision to life: Giannis from Marias Flower Weddings in Santorini, Mario Restaurant Catering for the elegant ghost chairs and round tables, Lydia from Spark Event Rentals for the custom-made tablecloths, Santorini Idea Candles for the lovely candles. They used various sizes of candles to create a magical wave-shaped setup, with the candlelight during the blue hour after sunset being simply breathtaking.

The Flowers

To mirror the Cycladic sea’s palette, blue delphinium flowers and tiny marguerite flowers were incorporated, creating a natural yet luxurious table setting.

This blend of German and Greek influences is evident in their choice of vendors, seamlessly connecting German and local service providers to create truly unforgettable experiences. This shoot wasn’t just about design; it was a love letter to Cycladic Gem, a place where every moment feels like home.

The focal-point wedding decor by Betty Flowers Santorini was inspired by flowers native to Vermont, an homage to MaryBeth’s home state. Not much else was needed for decor since the venue (on a cliff!) featured glass walls that showed off the picturesque panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Stylish lighting options for a warm glow

What do when the sun goes down? There’s no better lighting than candles and chandeliers. Rented arched chandeliers from Multimedia Events lit up the floral table design beginning at twilight and string lights complemented the numerous votives, lighting up the dance floor for the party to continue late into the evening. We’d be remiss not to mention just how good that warm candle lighting is for photos!

Mirrored tables: A surprising luxury detail

Mirrored tables, especially those in unique shapes such as the curved ones chosen for this wedding, are a luxurious way to add that extra special something for your reception design. A mirrored table creates the illusion of even more florals and reflects the warm glow of the candles, which especially stands out as the sun begins to dip down below the horizon.

Indian weddings are known for their vibrant colors, intricate rituals, and joyous celebrations. Before the grand nuptial ceremony and reception, there are several pre-wedding ceremonies that hold deep cultural significance. These events, including the Mehendi, Sangeet, and Haldi ceremonies, are not only about fun and festivities but also carry profound symbolism. Planning and designing this amazing Hindu wedding in Santorini at Santorini Gem Wedding Venue gave this couple and their design team, DW Events (a Wedding Chicks recommended vendor!) the chance to merge all these eastern spiritual ceremonies with the breathtaking beauty of the Aegean Sea and the picturesque Cycladic architecture of Santorini.

Henna: A beautiful and symbolic tradition

On the first day of this three-day wedding photographed by Dream Diaries India, the bride and groom took part in the Mehendi ceremony, a delightful event celebrated with dance, music, and intricate henna art. Rawina’s hands and feet were adorned with beautiful henna designs, with many of the female guests also participating in this artful tradition. The ceremony symbolizes the transition of a girl into womanhood and marks the start of the wedding festivities. The use of henna is believed to bring good luck, prosperity, and protection from evil spirits. The darker the henna color, the stronger the bond between the bride and her new family, signifying a harmonious relationship with her mother-in-law and husband.

Traditional morning-of rituals for the couple

The Haldi ceremony is among the most enjoyable events during a Hindu wedding. In this ritual, a paste of turmeric (haldi) is applied to the bodies of the bride and groom on the morning of their wedding day. The mixture, known by various names in different regions, is believed to beautify and cleanse the couple, while the yellow color is considered auspicious and a symbol of purity and fertility. Additionally, haldi has antiseptic properties, which are thought to protect the couple from any illnesses before their wedding. Rawina and Nichant went through this meaningful ritual together on the second day of their three-day event to symbolize their spiritual union and commitment to each other. 

Saying “I do” with Hindu traditions

On the third day of this luxury event, Rawina and Nichant took part in the Hindu wedding day traditions.  First was the the Baraat, or Grand Procession.  During the Baraat, the groom, dressed in a Sherwani and Churidars, rides an elephant or a majestic white horse, representing his regal entry into married life. The entrance of Nichant was a truly impressing moment as he looked radiant inside his traditional costume, Kafni, a long shirt extending to the knees, with Pijamo, leggings. Nichant also wore a turban that elevated even more the traditional vibes of his attire!

Colorful and contemporary floral garlands

At the wedding altar, the bride and groom then exchanged JaiMalas (floral garlands) symbolizing their acceptance of each other as life partners. The colorful flowers exchanged between Rawina and Nichant were a symbol of their blossoming relationship and the beauty of their eternal bond.  This exchange took place under the Mandap, a sacred canopy representing the universe under which the wedding ceremony takes place. The four pillars decorated with flowers from Red Box Days symbolize the four parents of the couple and their blessings.

Taking the next step, symbolically

Rawina and Nichant then took part in the Mangalphera, the pivotal ritual where the couple walks around the sacred fire seven times, symbolizing their seven vows or promises to each other. As they take each step, they make commitments to support and cherish one another in various aspects of life, including love, respect, and companionship. After the Mangalphera, the groom applies Sindoor, a red-orange powder, to the bride’s forehead representing the bride’s status as a married woman.  The Mangalsutra, a necklace of gold and black beads, is then tied around the bride’s neck by the groom, symbolizing their commitment to each other and the groom’s acceptance of his responsibility to protect and care for the bride.

Showcasing a spiritual connection

The close the ceremony, the Saptapadi is a crucial ritual where the couple takes seven steps together, representing the seven vows they make to build a harmonious life together. With each step, they promise to support each other in their mental, physical, and spiritual growth, as well as in their pursuit of prosperity, happiness, and knowledge. This ritual emphasizes the importance of mutual love, respect, and understanding in a successful marriage and was one of the most meaningful moments of this wedding event for the bride and groom, as well as their guest and families.  It truly culminated the gorgeous wedding weekend in a breath-taking location.

Couture gown, lovingly handmade by Drenusha Xharra

Bride, Kate, has always actively followed new designers from across the world, but had come across made-to-measure couture brands from Kosovo (where her husband is from) on social media platforms, spotting them at various Hollywood events, film festivals, and European fashion. While she was modeling Kosovar designer Drenusha Xharra‘s new collection, she fell instantly in love and chose to entrust the incredibly talented designer with the task of creating her dream wedding dress.

As pink is not a typical bridal color, Kate was so excited to collaborate with a designer who would take creative risks to bring this vision to reality! Each flower on the couture gown was lovingly handmade by Drenusha Xharra, taking almost a year to make the bride’s “most significant fashion dream” a reality. As a friend of the brand, her custom gown was priced at 6500 euro.

The couple’s family traveled from all over the world to witness their romantic ceremony, overlooking When looking for an event designer that could create a ceremony as visually striking as the wedding gown, meeting Maria of Tietheknot Santorini felt like destiny. The design agency put meticulous detail into fulfilling the couple’s needs and desires; they aimed to match the colors of the Santorini sunset with the striking floral design by Li – Li Lab, creating a fairytale ambiance with a vibrant and colorful palette.

Etnik and Kate were actually childhood sweethearts before their stunning island nuptials! They met as teenagers during their family summer vacations in Europe and kept a long-distance relationship in different countries for over a decade before parting to pursue their studies and ambitions. The two reconnected over Instagram, of all places, and knew that it was destiny for them to be together. The bride believes that if you have the chance to build a life with your first love you should never let it slip away!

After their ceremony Raffi, the couple’s adorable black-tie adorned puppy, joined them for private vows to each other. Their wedding wouldn’t have felt complete without their furry friend, who is a cherished member of their family!

This styled shoot drew inspiration from the elegant simplicity of two overlapping circles: The sacred geometry known as Vesica Piscis. The Vesica Piscis, though seemingly unremarkable at first glance, holds the essence of sacred geometry, embodying the belief in a divine creator and serving as a portal for the non-physical to enter into our physical reality. This symbolism creates a narrative that intertwines both spirituality and design. This other-worldliness was the perfect concept for a contemporary yet ethereal shoot at Venetsanos Winery planned by Gigi And Roses and captured on camera by Days Made of Love. A geometric invitation suite

For the shoot, Gigi And Roses chose geometric invitations that featured circles and curvatures that would appear throughout the shoot, whether it be the wavy aisle design or circular reception tables. The white, yellow, black, and gray color palette added a contemporary element that not only complemented the native florals and plants of the shoot from Betty Flowers Santorini, but also provided a perfect backdrop to play with contemporary fonts.

Coastline Glam

The bride wore a dress from Primalicia that was as glamorous as the setting. It’s off-the-shoulder design featured crepe rosettes all the way around that complemented the floral inspiration.

The groom wore mustard

The groom wore a mustard, double-button jacket from Scalawear that popped against black pants and a black bow tie. The color choice also complemented the wildflower aesthetic that tied together natural hues, including soft yellows.

A wavy wildflower aisle

There’s no reason why your ceremony aisle has to be a straight line. Gigi And Roses and Betty Flowers Santorini added a unique and timeless element of interest by incorporating a wavy aisle made out of wildflowers, natural foliage, and moss bases that blended seamlessly with the coastal overlook. The altar was surrounded by wild grasses and hydrangea plants to continue the natural look. Round poufs in pops of yellow and teal added additional geometric interest to the event.

Circular, geometric design inspiration

The circle was the star of the show for this reception design. From arches to round tables and cylindrical seating, the event was brought together by complementary curvature. Inset centerpieces created with wild grasses carried through the natural elements of the event.

A reception “quick change”

For this part of the event, the couple had a “quick change” into a teal blue and black suit for the groom and an off-the-shoulder tiered ruffle ballgown for the bride, who also added a pop-of-color through a black hat and floral choker for the bride.

When Forum and Krunal got engaged in Santorini, they knew then and there that they wanted a big destination wedding so that their family and friends could experience the beauty of that mystical place. All the planning got underway, but then the pandemic happened. Despite many an obstacle, they didn’t cut their guest list and always stuck true to their vision, postponing their original date when needed. Finally, in the spring of 2021, 120 of their closest friends and family traveled across the world for their multi-day Hindu wedding celebration, and it was well worth the wait! 

Santorini My Wedding organized their perfect proposal, so it was a no-brainer when it came time to hire a wedding planner. Santorini Flowers designed spectacular floral installations that changed color depending on the time of day. The wedding was held at Thermes Villas, where the couple exchanged vows with a sparkling view of the Aegean Sea behind them. Phosart Photography & Cinematography took these vibrant photos that capture all of the love and laughter in this big family wedding. She Said Yes 

We got married in the summer of 2021 in Santorini. I met my husband, Krunal, during my senior year of high school when a mutual friend introduced us. We remained friends, running into each other maybe once or twice a year throughout college. Fast forward to 2017, we bumped into each other again; at the same mutual friend’s birthday. Krunal asked me out on our first date and to be honest I was initially very hesitant and surprised, as we had known each other for so many years and it was very unexpected. After some debate, I made the best decision of my life and agreed to go on the date, and the rest was history. It’s true when they say one decision can change your life. That night I took a chance on my now best friend. We began exploring the world together and in the summer of 2018, we traveled to Santorini. The morning of the day Krunal proposed we went wine tasting at Santo Wines Winery where after a few drinks I blurted out “imagine getting married in a beautiful place like Santorini.” Little did I know Krunal was planning on proposing later that evening. As the day continued, Krunal fooled me into thinking we were going on a private tour of Santorini with a local guide. That local guide ended up being the photographer Krunal hired to take photos of us throughout the proposal. Krunal proposed in the middle of the caldera overlooking Santorini. I was in complete shock! The night kept getting better and ended with a private dinner alongside the beautiful caldera while the sun set, just the two of us. At that moment Krunal said, “let’s make your dream of getting married in Santorini a reality.” I’ve never been so happy in my life, it felt like a dream. As we both sat there watching the sunset we knew we wanted our family and friends to experience the beauty of Greece. Two years later that dream came true. 

No Easy Task 

Planning a Hindu wedding, which constitutes 3-4 days of celebrations, in another country was definitely not easy but our vendors helped us plan our dream wedding. Setting up meetings with vendors and finalizing details with the time difference of 8 hours was definitely a challenge with our busy work schedules but our amazing vendors were so flexible. We worked with Santorini My Wedding (after helping plan our proposal we knew we didn’t want anyone else to help us plan our wedding), Phosart Photography & Cinematography, Spicy Bites Catering with the help of Chef Anand, Renia makeup and Rena Skourti for hair, and Multimedia Events to bring our vision to life. We got married at the beautiful Thermes Villas and can’t recommend them enough. We also flew out some of our favorite vendors from NJ/NY including MVP DJs (Josh) and NP events who also helped us coordinate the events. 

Dressing The Part 

I had my henna done by Hennabyjill in New Jersey before flying to Greece. My wedding dress was custom-made for me. I worked with a designer in NJ (Sarika At Tantrafashions) to help come up with the style of dresses. She was incredible and worked with me throughout the pandemic to make sure I got exactly what I envisioned. She is a true gem and I couldn’t recommend her enough! 

Highlighting The Natural Beauty

I knew I wanted the decor to be simple and not overpower the natural beauty of Santorini. The decor was stunning, from our welcome party at Santo Wines Winery filled with candles to our wedding day where we designed a custom-made gazebo filled with chandeliers, to our reception where we decorated the tables with glass vases filled with purple orchids and candles everything came out beautiful. We filled the pool with petals, white during the wedding ceremony and red during the reception. I really loved how everything came out. Krunal and I both wanted to keep the theme very elegant to echo the beautiful venue while still keeping it dreamy and fairytale-like. We both have a love for travel and we decided to name the tables after different countries we visited together, including our favorite part of that trip. As favors for the tables, we had travel luggage tags. 

Every Little Moment 

It is difficult to pick my favorite part of the day, as the entire weekend was perfect. Every moment of the wedding was magical from start to finish. The fact it had been postponed and 120 of our closest friends and family had gotten over to Santorini in the middle of a pandemic meant everything to us. The welcome party was held at Santo Wines Winery, the location where Krunal and I first decided we wanted to get married in Santorini. Seeing our guests’ faces upon arrival was something we will never forget. We will forever be grateful that our family and friends were able to see the exact view that made us fall in love with Santorini in the first place. The following day was our wedding day. It started off with a baraat where the groom’s family celebrates and dances while making their way to the venue. I knew I wanted my family to join in on this celebration so I decided to have my own baraat, which is very untraditional for a bride, but it was one of the most memorable moments. When the two families met in the middle, we had a dance-off with the beautiful caldera view behind us. Our guests then made their way into the venue. When I finally walked down the aisle and saw my husband there waiting for me I knew that that was the moment we had waited so long for. It was a dream come true. The celebrations continued the following day with our reception. We entered our cocktail hour in a helicopter. Experiencing a bird’s-eye view of Santorini, riding a helicopter together for the first time, and getting to do it all as husband and wife, while our guests cheered for us upon arrival, was something we will forever cherish. As the night continued we had fireworks during our first dance. Later in the evening, we had traditional Greek dancers perform which ended with plate breaking in true Greek fashion, leading into the open dance floor. We wanted to incorporate our Hindu customs with Greek customs and our guests loved it. Everyone was having the best time dancing and taking in the moment. After all, when else can you go to a wedding and break plates? 

Well Worth It 

Getting married in the middle of a pandemic isn’t easy but it’s worth it in the end. We will forever be grateful for our close family and friends who flew out to Greece in the middle of a pandemic to support us. It made all the planning, postponing, replanning, and stress absolutely worth it. Surrounded by so much love and support, the wedding was a true dream come true.
