Manuela (a travel influencer) and Francesco (an Italian entrepreneur) transformed their love for travel and good food into an unforgettable wedding experience that incorporated a nod to Puglia and wasn’t too far from the sea. Pettolecchia la Fortezza in Puglia, Italy, was the perfect stage for this unique event, with the civil ceremony among the centuries-old olive trees and the dinner at the foot of the steps of the Fortress, which had never been done before!

For the wedding the bride chose two Atelier Eme dresses. The first was a more traditional lace dress with a beautifully embroidered custom monogrammed veil with a floral lace trim. The second was a more fitted lace dress, inspired by the elegant party that awaited at the reception.

The bridesmaids wore beautiful Italian silk bridesmaid dresses, with the maid of honor donning statement-making blue chandelier earrings and a sparkly blue floor-length dress.

Suits for day and night

The groom chose two Bottega Dalmut suits. The first was a perfectly beachy tan suit with the perfect suede shoes. The second was an evening inspired blue and black tuxedo-inspired outfit complete with bow tie.

A private oceanfront first look

The couple and their witnesses spent the moments before the ceremony at the La Peschiera Hotel. Manuela and Francesco shared a private moment overlooking the sea prior to exchanging their vows in front of family and friends.

A distinctive note of this wedding was the incorporation of Michelin star cuisine. Top-notch chefs from Enoteca La Torre (a 2 Michelin star experience) delighted the 230 guests with extraordinary dishes, creating an exquisite culinary experience. The appetizers, a true journey around the world, fully represented the overall theme of the wedding. Stalls scattered amongst the centuries-old olive trees each represented the places visited by travel blogger Manuela and ranged from Morocco to America, without ever neglecting Apulian dishes such as focaccia, bread, and panzerotti.

Perfect for 2024: Peach, pink, and blue

Tablecloths, cushions, menus, fans, performers’ clothes, and other impeccable details were customized and created specifically for the event. Every touch, from setting the tables to choosing the decorations, was personalized. Each element followed a color palette grounded in the colors of pink and peach (a hot 2024 trend!) with touches of red, which was perfectly implemented by florist Nunzia Guerino. The unique menu was crafted in a trendy round shape with the sun and moon in a complementary design.

Dinner and a show

The entertainment was masterfully managed by Mho Events with a dinner show in which dancers and singers alternated throughout the dinner with dresses made to match the colors and designs created for the wedding.

These incredible photos by Bottega53 look too good to be true! Iles Events planned this inspiration shoot to showcase the stunning Villa Balbiano and show couples how extravagant an elopement can be. With a venue and a gown this extra, Anna Gayduk had their work cut out for them when they were asked to design the florals, and they brought it big time! This team couldn’t resist filming this epic shoot at this historic location and asked Merak Studio to do the honors. THE GEM OF THE LAKE 

Situated on the western shore of Lake Como, Villa Balbiano is an awe-inspiring Italian jewel, an exceptional historical palazzo that once belonged to the famous Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, who built it at the end of the 16th century and used it as his main residence. A century later, it was enlarged and embellished by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini who used the Villa to host a gallant and frivolous society where festivals, banquets, and dances followed one another relentlessly. Since then each successive owner only added to the splendor of the villa. Nowadays, Villa Balbiano is the largest private residence on the lake, occupying over 2ha, with an extensive sumptuous garden, which was distinguished by the British Society of Garden Designers, an outdoor swimming pool, a private pier, and a boathouse. Inside, its historic interiors have been filled with finest objets d’art and furniture of past centuries, sourced from Sotheby’s and Christie’s. Spectacular 17th-century frescoes painted by the Recchi brothers and Agostino Silva still decorate the walls, untouched by time. Discovering Abruzzo

Covid19 forced many of us to change our plans over the summer, but for Emiliana Gualtieri, Head Planner for Amoretti Weddings, it gave her her opportunity to create something unique. Emiliana has 13 years of experience in Destination Wedding Planning in Italy, but during the Covid period took time out from wedding coordination and went back to searching for venues. 

“ I was craving for new places, new scenarios. While I was searching for the most exclusive locations where to celebrate my clients’ future weddings, I bumped into amazing places in Abruzzo, my native land.” 

The Inspiration

Known only by travel connoisseurs, Abruzzo is one of the few left unknown pearls of Italy. Wild scenarios of four national parks, make this part of Italy the greenest region of Europe. Breathtaking views are the main protagonists. So we decided to choose this area to shoot a Luxury Rock’n’Roll Wedding Inspiration.

The Church of Saint Mary ‘Della Pietà in Rocca Calascio reminded me of the church used by Guns n Roses in November Rain. A song that is in any 80s Kids’ hearts for the not so happy ending yet beautiful bride and groom. So we decided to make a twist, to create that same scenario of a super rock band but with a happy Finale.

Decor + Details

The ceremony was in the woods of San Colombo Dimora Storica, near The Church of Saint Mary Della Pietà’ in Rocca Calascio. Here, the film director Richard Donner, filmed Ladyhawke (1985) starring Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer, and Michelle Pfeiffer. A real cathedral of nature, that raises the bride and groom’s love for infinity.

The dinner took place in the same woods of the intimate cloister of San Colombo Dimora Storica. Beautiful venue with magnificent views of the national park of Gran Sasso, the highest Mountain of the Apennine. We wanted something that was elegant, stylish but still with that little bit of an edge. A concept that was stunning and rich at its essence. 

When it came to styling, this was incredibly important for us, we wanted something much more luxurious. Emiliana from Amoretti Weddings styled all the areas of the shooting, from the table, which looked incredible, down to the party area. 

The table featured gold, grey, burgundies, greens, and softer pinks in the candles and crockery.
Crockery and accessories came directly from Daniela which owns Gualtieri Arte Regalo, one of the oldest wedding gift shops that are in Italy dated 1848.

MarryMe by Amoretti designed the most amazing stationery. Super-lux green velvet, black hand-torn paper embossed in gold was the accomplishment work for the invitation and day stationery. Tina from Fioridea created the pampas and floral installation for the ceremony, the table centerpieces and the bouquet. Tina also created the feature pieces surrounding the table, using the rich deep burnt orange and berry tones. 

Federico at Emozioni Italiane created a magnificent cake, textured whites, and golds, super sophisticated but modern. Then we had the most fantastic open bar service from Mercury Events from Rome. They brought the most luxurious bar and their cocktails were absolutely delicious!

We found two beautiful models Ludovica and Alessandro, who were just perfect for this. Ludovica, wore three outfits, one for the morning ceremony, one for the dinner and then the other one for the party. All the dresses were from Atelier Isabella Caposano. Alessandro wore a black suit from Barbarossa Atelier and a burnt rust hat, we wanted him to look very much like a rocker but stylish and he looked amazing. Marco Romano Hair and Ale Mua Makeup created the look for Ludovica and Alessandro. A rich red sophisticated lip for Ludovica, with bouncy elegant waves, topped off with a rock’n’roll style pearl crown designed by Emiliana herself.

We love writing about exotic destination wedding locales, really, we do, but sometimes we find ourselves saying the same things over and over and over. There are a lot of unbelievably stunning places in the world, and they make for beautiful backdrops for weddings, but when we actually consider ‘experience,’ for our couples and their guests, a place like Petritoli (in Italy) just makes our hearts skip a beat. We talked to the tourism and event pros at Tu.Ris.Marche and they gave us so much to think about, mostly that there are SO many places the wedding world doesn’t know about – hopefully, after reading this, though, you’ll consider yourself an insider. Tuscan weddings are astounding, Florence weddings are first rate, but if you’re truly after the ‘fairytale affair,’ you can’t top Petritoli.

You’re not guests, you’re full-on family. 

If you’re not familiar with Petritoli, no worries, it’s a hidden and oft-looked-over gem in a country known for hotspots like Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Milan, Naples, etc. But point blank, Petritoli is a medieval village with a population of approximately 2,500 (not kidding when we said this place was off the radar). Lying on the fertile hills of southern Marche, between the Adriatic Sea and the Sibillini Mountain Chain, the Azure Hills are ripe with ancient and majestic beauty – a tiny corner of paradise that’s just a natural for nuptials.
