an invisible string theory romance

Sometimes love works in mysterious ways, bringing two people together who were always meant to find each other. For Megan and Landon McAllister, their love story is a perfect example of what Taylor Swift fans would call an "invisible string theory" moment. Despite attending the same schools since middle school and even running on the same cross-country team, their paths never quite crossed until one fateful Christmas break. Thanks to the modern matchmaker known as Snapchat's location feature, Landon spotted Megan was in town and reached out. Though their first attempt at connection didn't quite stick (Megan admits to ghosting him due to his less-than-stellar conversation skills), fate wasn't finished with them yet.

"Fast forward to the next October and he messaged me again, but this time he was doing much better," Megan recalls with a laugh. Their first meeting involved a midnight drive and a leap of faith that would change their lives forever. "I almost didn't go but surely enough I rolled into Connors State College around midnight and everything felt so right. It was love virtually immediately."

The proposal took place at the picturesque Lake Bistineau State Park, where Spanish moss and wildflowers created the perfect backdrop. "I knew what was happening or what was supposed to be happening, but then we were walking around so long that I thought he was faking me out," Megan shares. Just as she was about to head back to the car, Landon called her to turn around, and there he was, down on one knee.

The newlyweds celebrated their honeymoon in the vibrant city of New Orleans, staying at the historic Hotel Monteleone. Their days were filled with the perfect blend of history, food, and music, from beignets at Cafe du Monde to romantic strolls through the Garden District. "I'm a history nerd and Landon is a little bit of a foodie so it was the perfect place for us," Megan explains. They immersed themselves in everything NOLA had to offer, from the famous Carousel Bar to hidden gems like M.S. Rau, creating memories they still fondly reminisce about.

Their wedding day was everything they hoped for and more, with a team of incredible vendors bringing their vision to life. One standout element was the stunning floral arrangements by Rose of Sharon Floral Design Studio that left everyone in awe. "Our flowers were all the rave!" Megan exclaims. "When Althea Wiles and her team delivered them that morning I was in awe. I was running and so busy but when I saw them it just made everything stop for me." The couple cherished their private moment together before the ceremony, with Megan describing it as feeling "literally like heaven." The walk down the aisle and the emotions following the ceremony created memories they'll treasure forever.

The floral motif on Megan's romantic A-line lace gown fit the garden setting perfectly! Her bridesmaids' dresses also helped contribute to the overall feel of the wedding picking up the pastel blue in the color palette. Landon and his groomsmen also played into the blue theme with azure-hued three-piece suits.

a cookie cake love story

No wedding story is complete without a few funny moments, and the McAllisters' big day delivered. In a post-reception adventure, Landon found himself cleaning spilled black beans from their car at 1 AM–a moment that became an unexpected source of laughter for the wedding party. Then there's the tale of the beloved giant cookie cake, which became one bridesmaid's prized possession when the couple gifted it to her after the wedding. "One of my bridesmaids doesn't like cake but loves cookie cake so we always joked that Landon's groom's cake was a cookie cake just for her," Megan shares. The dedication to this sweet treat was so strong that a groomsman drove thirty minutes just to deliver it to the bridesmaid who had accidentally left it behind.

words of wisdom

For couples planning their own wedding, Megan offers this sage advice, "Decide what is important to you and hone in on that. Always weigh what is more important and what you want vs. what others want. Do what's best for you." From their serendipitous meeting to their perfect wedding day and beyond, Megan and Landon's story proves that sometimes the best love stories are the ones that take their time unfolding, with a few detours, some spilled black beans, and plenty of cookie cake along the way.
