vintage ski wedding

After meeting on Hinge, Zach and Lauren knew it was “forever” from the very first date. They began traveling together, which only made them fall more in love with each other and the life they were building together. After Zach convinced Lauren to give skiing a second chance during a Colorado wedding she was photographing, it became one of their shared favorite pastimes (from bunnies to blues!). Because she is a wedding photographer, Lauren knew she didn’t want their wedding to be like anything she had shot before. Captured by Fontana Lane, this wedding at Angel Fire Resort is a must-see for any bride wanting to break the mold.

Hosting a wedding experience

After considering the costs for a larger wedding, the couple’s vision was to pay for an experience and not an event. They spent a long time searching for the perfect place to host their family and closest friends, and Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico proved to be the most beautiful ski-in/ski-out option. Zach and Lauren booked it blindly and planned a trip just to see it (and ski, of course!). They were well on their way to hosting a wedding experience that felt more like a ski trip that they got married on rather than a wedding where people skied.

Lauren and Zach asked their friends to be a part of their wedding party using cute little ski candles. When the day arrived, bridesmaids exchanged dresses for ski suits in a neutral color palette, and the group opted for group photos on the slopes.

After-the-fact advice from the bride

“We spent a lot of time being intentional with our details. For example, we made a date night out of crafting our welcome sign, and our guestbook was a custom vinyl with all of the songs that were sentimental to our relationship. With a degree in journalism, it was only right to participate in the newspaper trend also! It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the weekend and included our story, our community, and postcards from trips that we had been on together. My ultimate advice for brides is to do what you want. The people who really love you will show up for you – don’t give up your happiness on your day!”

white rose beach wedding

Brianna and Alec met in Cancun as college seniors during Spring Break of 2018. Over the four years that followed, they often vowed they would say “I do” in Mexico. After Alec proposed to Brianna atop a romantic terrace on a ski trip, it wasn’t long until that Mexico dream wedding came to be! When preparing for the big day, Brianna and Alec approached event planner Momentos Weddings & Events with an absolutely captivating idea for their celebration in Los Cabos – They wanted a garden-themed wedding filled with charming details, luxury, and freshness. Mementos was able to create, design, and transform the couple’s big day into a series of memorable moments that Daniela Ortiz Photography captured on camera for Brianna and Alec to enjoy for years to come.

Planning a garden-themed wedding

When the couple and Momentos started planning this garden-style destination wedding in Los Cabos, Brianna shared that she wanted a classic but fresh and relaxed wedding. The location and the sea were intended to inspire every detail, making the look grounded, casual, and uncomplicated, while still maintaining a luxurious and charming vibe. It also helped that the designers were easily able to work the couple’s spontaneous, caring, and friendly personalities into the wedding design!

Choose your favorites

Right away, the bride and groom knew that the wedding’s aesthetics, the food, the drinks, floral design, and the guests’ comfort were their top priorities. Deciding on these most important elements allowed Momentos, Brianna, and Alec to work together in a focused way throughout site visits, trials, and ultimately the wedding day itself.

Oceanview welcome party

The festivities kicked off with a welcome party at the Fairway Terrace overlooking the ocean and the Cabo del Sol golf course. Guests enjoyed two hours of canapés with crispy fried tacos, guacamole, and salpicón tostadas, an open bar, and music by Alex DJ that got everyone dancing.

On the beach but off the sand

For Brianna, it was crucial to get married by the beach, but not on the sand, so a terrace was the perfect choice! Privacy was also important, so the event designers opted for the Imperial Suite at the Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos – a stunning space that met all of the couple’s needs. This private suite had its own garden, a terrace, and offered a spectacular ocean view. Let It Bloom was also able to create a gorgeous square floral arch filled with lush greenery and white roses that served as a backdrop for their vows.

From the start, John and Amanda had a very simple vision for their wedding–tacos and margaritas on the beach surrounded by family and friends.

Amanda and John tied the knot at the historic Adamson House, right off Highway 1 in Malibu. Mere feet from the ocean, they tied the knot with personal vows, followed by a reception at sunset. The Adamson House was the perfect venue with the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop and the freedom to hire the vendors that could bring their vision to life. Kon Tiki Taco catered the event serving a wide array of Mexican favorites while The Whaling Club served signature cocktails such as a spicy cucumber margarita. With all the colorful tile and native wildflowers throughout the property, they worked with Blooming Events by Terry to create a simple floral palette of neutrals and whites with pops of pale blue.

Mocha Mousse: Using Pantone’s Color of the Year in Your 2025 Wedding https://www.weddingchicks.com/tips-advice/mocha-mousse-using-pantones-color-of-the-year-in-your-2025-wedding/ Tue, 17 Dec 2024 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.weddingchicks.com/tips-advice/mocha-mousse-using-pantones-color-of-the-year-in-your-2025-wedding/ Pantone's Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, a rich brown shade, is expected to influence 2025 wedding trends, offering versatility and warmth for a cozy and romantic celebration.

The post Mocha Mousse: Using Pantone’s Color of the Year in Your 2025 Wedding appeared first on Weddingchicks.

]]>
bridesmaids in earthtone dressesPHOTO:

Every year, Pantone—the leading authority on all things color—announces its Color of the Year, a specific tone meant to capture the overall vibe of our cultural state. Last year’s Peach Fuzz represented a collective desire for closeness and self-care. This year, Pantone has selected Mocha Mousse, a rich and velvety shade of brown meant to reflect “a global mood of connection, comfort, and harmony.”

Most years, the Pantone color significantly impacts the design trends seen in weddings and special events — and we expect 2025 to be no different! Though brown isn’t often associated with weddings, industry professionals assure that Mocha Mousse will have its place in the upcoming year.

“Mocha Mousse is a classy neutral that will pair well with sophisticated events,” assures Sarah-Pete Petersen of The Estate at River Run. “It will translate well for attire, invitations, florals, and design.”

Don’t get Mocha Mousse wrong — this color is no muddy brown, but rather a tone evocative of a creamy latte enjoyed with the morning sun. It’s the definition of warm and cozy, perfect for couples who envision a calm, down-to-earth celebration.

“Beiges and brown shades can add romance to a space that otherwise feels stark or sterile, so mocha is the perfect in-between shade that helps your space feel cozy, romantic, and warm,” explains Ashley Allan of Your Jubilee Weddings.

Incorporating Pantone’s Color of the Year into your 2025 wedding doesn’t mean you have to stick with only browns and neutrals. The beauty of Mocha Mousse’s understated, soft hue is its versatility and adaptability with plenty of other color palettes, whether you’re dreaming of an all-white wedding or a boho chic affair.

Meagan Cody of Sweet Pea Events agrees, promising that there are “so many ways we can bring this color into your event without it being bland!” Need more convincing? Here are a handful of ways to embrace Mocha Mousse in your upcoming wedding.

Textural Details

Mocha Mousse’s sensual tone beautifully complements natural textures and materials for an intricate and immersive design. For example, “velvet linens or napkins would be a great accent in this shade,” offers Emily Sullivan of Unique Weddings and Events.

Other ideas include “leather in seating and suede for accents,” suggests Casey Cannon of EBJ & Company. “Dark wood tones can also bring this color to life and provide an old-world charm.”

Michael Coombs of Michael Coombs Entertainment adds that draping and linens are the best way to incorporate Mocha Mousse into a wedding. “Going for a more rich color tone that will speak to those who want to be more bold with their designs,” he says.

Infuse your wedding with yummy Mocha textures by using the color for:

 • Linens and/or cloth napkins: Pair Mocha Mousse napkins with crisp white linens for peak boho vibes. Include blush pink or mauve details for a feminine touch.
 • Rentals: Coffee-toned chairs, tables, arches, and other furniture can add the perfect touch of Mocha Mousse without going overboard.
 • Decor elements: Antique books, creamy taper candles, rattan chargers — there are so many opportunities to weave Mocha Mousse into your wedding decor.
 • Lighting: From wicker fixtures to antler chandeliers, lighting is the perfect area to embrace neutrals like Mocha Mousse.

Flowers

Bridal Heels with Simple BouquetPHOTO:

Colorful flowers aren’t going anywhere, but 2025 will be the year of neutral blooms! If you’re not sure how that works, Blooms by the Box’s Joan Wyndrum assures that Mocha Mousse is a natural fit for floral arrangements.

“Imagine chic bouquets of lush coffee roses paired with exquisite ivory garden roses and dusty green seeded eucalyptus,” she suggests. “There are some truly stunning pale mocha rose varieties to consider, as well as many lovely textural elements like cotton stems, willow tips, olive branches, and scabiosa pods that combine beautifully.”

Dried grasses and flowers are also excellent ways to elevate a Mocha Mousse color palette. A few favorites include:

 • Lavender
 • Pampas grass
 • Thistle
 • Wheat
 • Amaranthus
 • Craspedia
 • Baby’s breath

Day-of Attire

Bride and Groom First KissPHOTO:

As a close cousin to taupe and champagne, we’ve already seen hints of Mocha Mousse in wedding fashion, so the shade will naturally shine in this area. Craig Peterman of Craig Peterman Photography & Videography recommends using it “in bridesmaids’ dresses or groomsmen’s accessories for a chic, understated look.”

But that doesn’t mean your wedding party gets to have all the fun! “A mocha/chocolate suit on a groom would be extremely handsome,” adds Jen Avey of Destination Weddings Travel Group.

Brides can incorporate Mocha Mousse into their bouquets, shoes, and other accessories as a way to soften their day-of look. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, opt for a mocha-toned bridal gown! Other ways to play with Pantone’s Color of the Year include:

 • Floral crown: Weave mocha and mauve roses into your hair with dried baby’s breath for a romantic boho look!
 • Jewelry: Opt for chocolate diamonds, smoky quartz, or brown citrine in your jewelry. Brown gemstones are warm, so they pair well with gold and rose gold!
 • Beauty: From eyes to lips to nails, mocha is already an old favorite of beauty lovers. Work with your makeup artist to achieve the perfect coffee-inspired look!

Stationery

Modern Wedding Place Setting MenuPHOTO:

While sometimes overlooked, stationery forms the foundation of your wedding’s aesthetic. From guests’ first glimpse in the mail to their day-of experience, paper goods serve as a consistent channel for showcasing your theme.

Kelley Nudo of Momental Designs suggests setting the tone with dreamy mocha details in your stationery. “Instead of choosing a classic black, navy, or gray font color, couples can consider instead using soft brown like Mocha Mousse,” she says.

Invitation suites are also a prime opportunity to incorporate some texture into your wedding design! “A beautiful silk ribbon in the Mocha Mousse shade would add a touch of richness and warmth to an invitation suite,” Nudo adds. “Couples with rustic weddings can bring in wood veneer layers to their invite in this shade.”

In addition to invitations, integrate Mocha Mousse into these other stationery elements:

 • Save-the-dates
 • Ceremony programs
 • Escort cards
 • Table numbers
 • Menus
 • Favor cards or labels
 • Thank you cards

As Pantone’s Color of the Year, creamy Mocha Mousse is sure to leave its mark on 2025 weddings, proving that brown can be just as romantic and striking as more traditional hues. By embracing this rich, comforting hue, you’ll create a wedding day that feels as warm and inviting as it looks. So, don’t shy away from this earthy neutral — let it inspire a celebration you’ll savor just like the perfect cup of coffee!

traditional wedding inspiration in washington dc

We love a trendy wedding as much as the next blog, but every now and then, we have to admit that it is refreshing to see a couple who dares to keep things classic. Instead of focusing on the decor to express their personalities and their relationship, they leaned into their families’ cultural traditions. Oh, and it’s definitely worth mentioning that this couple planned this epic wedding themselves…in just eight months!!! Keep scrolling to see more of these lovely photos by Vicki Grafton Photography and to read all about how they incorporated both cultures into their big day.

As an Afghan and an Egyptian and devout Muslims, we didn’t see ourselves represented in any of the wedding magazines while planning our wedding. It was very important that we had a traditional Afghan-Egyptian wedding combined with some modern elements.

a celebration of culture

afghan and egyptian wedding traditions

The wedding was a celebration of Afghan and Egyptian culture. Our stationery was custom-designed and created in Egypt by the same vendor that my husband’s family has used for years. Our invitations were custom-designed and made by hand in pink velvet. The invitations were in Arabic, Dari, and English representing all three languages. We also created a custom monogram that was on all of our stationery as well as our cake. All of the details we used for our reception ceremony as well as our henna night and cake cutting also came from Afghanistan.

The design and theme for the wedding was traditional and timeless. Our goal was to have a wedding that our children could look back on decades later and still find the design and decor relevant. We explicitly opted out of any trends or colors from 2023/2024. Our venue, the Ritz-Carlton, has a very traditional and elegant ballroom. The decor and flowers by Bee Inspired Events all reflected traditional wedding colors and traditional design elements.

I did not have a full-time wedding planner and we planned our wedding ourselves despite a short engagement of eight months. The planning tools on Wedding Chicks were super helpful. Additionally, Wedding Chicks as a whole was a very helpful resource in navigating the planning process and making decisions, particularly the tips and advice section.

afghan wedding dance

During the wedding, my family also performed a traditional Afghan dance known as Attan while wearing traditional Afghan clothing. My sister performed Ragsheh Chagoo, a tradition where the groom must buy the knife from the bride’s sister by paying her money before the couple can cut the cake. The knife we used was also an heirloom from Afghanistan.

My gown is the “Alexandra” by Monique Lhuillier which I wore with a custom bolero. I knew I wanted to wear a Monique Lhuillier bridal gown ever since I came across the designer. When we got engaged, “Alexandra” was the first gown I tried on, and absolutely fell in love with the strapless sweetheart corset dress with a drop waist and the unique sculpted ballgown. Afterwards, I tried on at least 100+ gowns from every major designer including Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta but my heart was set on the “Alexandra” gown. The dress is the epitome of elegance. I also had a custom cathedral-length veil with matching lace created for the dress.

mix-and-match bridesmaids’ dresses

The bridesmaids’ dresses were shades of blush and light pink. However, the bridesmaids selected their own dresses from different designers. It was very important for me that my bridesmaids feel confident in their dresses. My two sisters, who were my Maids of Honor, have very unique and different styles. I wanted them to feel the best version of themselves and choose dresses that reflect their own unique styles. One of my sisters had her dress custom-created in Istanbul, Turkey. My other sister chose the “Henri” gown from the Bar.

Similar to our wedding theme, we wanted a traditional wedding cake. The cake was designed and baked by Patricia SerryBurton of Ritz-Carlton who is one of the best pastry chefs in Washington DC. The cake included numerous pearls to reflect my dress and our monogram designed in gold. We chose two different flavors for our cake: 1) white chocolate mousse with fresh raspberries and buttercream frosting, 2) chocolate cake with caramel filling and buttercream frosting. We also served two types of Afghan and Egyptian desserts: Baklava and Firnee. Firnee is an Afghan dessert made of milk pudding infused with rose water and cardamom, topped with crushed pistachios.

wedding website by lovebird

If you’ve ever been invited to a wedding before or you’re planning a wedding yourself, you’ve probably heard of wedding websites. It’s basically a landing page where your guests can learn any relevant info: when, where, registry links, etc. If you’ve done any research, chances are you’ve noticed that there are so many options to choose from. And while some sites offer free wedding websites, having all of that information on a separate platform from the rest of your wedding correspondence may cause more issues than it solves. Luckily, we’ve found a wedding website platform that takes care of it all from digital save the dates and invitations all the way through day-of guest communication–Lovebird!

why you need a wedding website

Wedding Websites are crucial in communicating with your guests. Without one, we can guarantee that you’ll be fielding questions left and right about where you’re registered or where your guests can park near the rehearsal dinner venue, etc. And where some companies merely provide a landing page for you to input important info for your guests, Lovebird’s platform is interactive for both you and your guests. From your Lovebird wedding website, you can link to your registry directly, guests can view directions and open locations in their own GPS apps, they can even add different events directly to their calendars!

Lovebird also offers coordinating digital invitations so you can also collect RSVPs and other important information, and send messages to guests through the platform, keeping everything in one simple (aesthetically pleasing) place. The problem up until now is that companies specialized in one or two of these things, but not all of them. Lovebird saw the flaw in the system and flew right in to save the day.

Take Our Advice and Go For the Package Deal

They have three different packages, so you can pick what you need and skip what you don’t. We recommend their Full Suite. It’s their most popular option and truly takes care of all of your communication needs. Here’s what’s included:

digital stationery suite

Digital stationery gives your guests a seamless RSVP experience. Instead of a strange hybrid of paper and digital communication, everything is simplified. You also get to skip the paper price tag and spend that budget on something your guests will always remember, not something that will end up in the recycling bin.

Erin and Sean’s sleek and chic Palm Springs wedding was all about contemporary fashion, luxe white florals, and modern decor elements to create the most stunning Southern California soiree. As their planner when it came to the event design, Erin and Sean shared a few inspiration photos and I took it and ran with it. We created a design with a white dance floor, white flowers, white linens, and the most important detail was a reception with moody and saturated lighting! There were a couple deal breakers for these two. They had to have the California tradition of an In-and-Out truck for a late-night snack and had to have a kick-ass wedding band. If one thing’s for sure, this party was going all night! Add a hilarious, heartfelt ceremony done by the bride’s brother and epic photos taken with a vintage car in the iconic front drive of The Parker Palm Springs and what else could you ask for?!

They knew The Parker Palm Springs was the perfect venue to wow their group and become a fun-in-the-sun playground for this energetic couple and their family and friends.

Erin opted for a relaxed satin halter gown with a sexy open back and her bridesmaids wore dark sage satin dresses with plunging necklines. Sage is trending hard right now for weddings, and this has to be our favorite shade of sage bridesmaid dresses that we’ve seen! Sean went with a classic black tuxedo with velvet loafers for the wedding ceremony and switched to a white dinner jacket for the reception.

Two pillars of white orchids and hydrangea by Vasobello served as the backdrop for the ceremony. For the reception, they carried over the white floral theme with coordinating low-lying garland-style centerpieces on each table.
