citrus colored wedding inspiration with menus from fedex officeSPONSORED POST

POV: It’s the week of your wedding and you realize that you forgot to order table numbers and menus. Don’t worry, it’s more common than you think. Last-minute details like that can really make a wedding come together, and if it slipped your mind fear not, the solution is waiting for you just around the corner (literally). Of course, you know that FedEx Office has you covered for all your work printing needs but did you know they have a ton of designs that are PERFECT for weddings?!? Well, they do and we decided to try them out for you…

printed table numbers from fedex office

We created a welcome sign, menus, bar sign, and table numbers. No graphic design skills or fancy editing software, no problem! You can design everything on the FedEx Office website and it’s super easy to use, it only took a matter of hours to design them and order the prints. Two days later, we were picking it up (If you dont have a FedEx Office local to your location, you can always have it shipped pretty quickly too). Find a local FedEx Office Here.

Here’s how we did it…

welcome sign

affordable wedding welcome sign from fedex office

There are so many different options when it comes to displaying your welcome sign–from display easels to frames, but we especially love hanging signs. We went with a Gator Board, which is the most heavy-duty option FedEx Office offers in posters. This is a great option especially if you’re having your sign outdoors, it makes it more sturdy to withstand weather and wind.

how to customize your fedex office wedding sign

We ordered this gold metal arch from Amazon for our beautiful FedEx Office sign. We played off our design and secured the sign with ribbons. To create the hanging effect, we had to drill a couple holes–it was pretty easy, just make sure you measure before you start drilling and use your drill on a low speed. We also included some white parasol umbrellas for guests to take upon entering the ceremony. This is a great option if you have an outdoor wedding in the sunshine.

pink and red printed wedding sign from fedex office

PRO TIP: Unless you are a professional at tying big beautiful bows, you’re going to want to order pre-made bows to secure to the sign. We ordered these ones, that matched our hanging ribbon perfectly!

bar cart

vintage inspired bar cart with sign from fedex office

You’ll never believe it but this bar sign cost just $7 to make! You can’t even get a latte for that price these days, let alone, something that is such a crucial part of your wedding decor. We started with a Full Color Pedestal Sign from the FedEx Office design studio and customized it with our own graphics. To add a little more color, texture, and depth to the bar, we created a pressed-flower acrylic arch to put behind it.

custom bar sign from fedex office

It only took about 30 minutes (and less than $20) to put together the acrylic arch and we feel like it really added to the display. Did you know you can order pressed flowers on Amazon? Here are the ones we ordered. We found the arched acrylic sign at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 and used the wooden stand from this $1.79 package. To apply the flowers, we used tweezers and Gorilla Glue (the gel kind so it dries clear). The flowers are super light and delicate, so the tweezers made it easy to pick up each flower.

pressed flower acrylic bar sign from fedex office for weddings

PRO TIP: Lay out all of your flowers on the acrylic arch to make sure you’re happy with how it looks before permanently gluing things down. Also, please don’t glue your fingers together, we did once while we were putting this together and it’s not fun trying to pull your fingers apart….oh the joys of DIY’ing!

We found a vintage bar cart and used a mix of vintage cocktail glasses along with some new ones we ordered from Fable to create our bar. To top it off, we ordered a peach-colored table runner and draped it over the cart.

custom signage for your signature cocktails from fedex office

Don’t know what your signature cocktails are going to be just yet? Here are three ways to come up with them…

cute sign ideas for your wedding bar cart from fedex office

1. Work together with your wedding bartender. Some couples do a twist on their favorites and others describe what they like and let their bartender come up with something custom.

2. Get inspired by your favorite cocktail bar or restaurant in town. This is what we did! We went out for happy hour one night together and fell in love with a couple amazing cocktails from a restaurant that just opened.

3. Find recipes on our website–here are 20 of our faves that would be a hit for a signature cocktail!

menus and table numbers

custom menu and table numbers from fedex office

The menus that FedEx offers come in a variety of sizes and paper types, they even offer water-resistant paper (which is great when you have your menus near drinks!). We went with the 4×9 menu because we loved the way the proportions looked with our round plates.

custom wedding menu from fedex office

A menu may not seem like a necessity but trust us when we say it really adds a special touch to your tablescape–and these ones were only 54 cents each! So yeah, it’s a no-brainer. And before you think it’s too good to be true, we can tell you from experience, the quality is incredible! The colors were beautiful, the print quality was literally perfect and the paper was high quality and thick.

custom pink and red wedding table numbers from fedex office

For the table numbers, we ordered the Full Color Pedestal Signs from FedEx Office and they came with pedestals, so they stood up on their own and looked beautiful next to our floral centerpieces.

custom wedding ceremony neon sign and arch from one neon

You’ve seen it over chic bars with custom cocktails, on welcome signs, escort card displays, at bachelorette parties–we’re talking Neon Signage. A good neon sign instantly adds good vibes to any space and says, let’s party (metaphorically, but sometimes literally). Where to these couples get these amazing custom signs? The signs you see at some of these six figure weddings are probably ordered by the couple’s wedding planner, so we did some digging and found out where they get them–One Neon…and they’re surprisingly affordable!

Wedding Chicks readers get 10% off of your order when you use coupon code OneNeon10% at checkout.

how it works

mr and mrs wedding neon sign from one neon

If you’ve seen a neon sign at a wedding, chances are One Neon made it. They’re the best in the biz when it comes to neon signage. But here’s a fun fact, these neon signs are not made with glass tubes and neon gas like in the olden days, they’re created with the latest LED neon flex technology that allows for intricate designs and unique color offerings. They have a ton of cool pre-designed neon signs on their website that you can choose from. Classics like these, which are perfect for over the bar or on the backdrop for the live band or DJ at your reception:

till death do us party neon sign from one neon

But, if you really want to get extra…why not go completely custom? And before you assume that a custom sign is out of your budget, their custom signs are about the same price as their pre-designed ones! And, thanks to their easy-to-use design software on their website, designing your custom sign is as easy as typing your name. Not only do you get to customize what your sign says, you can even select the font and the color! They can also do completely custom too. So if you have a monogram or some other special symbol attached to your wedding theme you can simply upload that and they’ll turn it into a sign!

the gift that keeps on giving

Here’s our second project using flowers from FiftyFlowers! Their wholesale florals offer endless possibilities for event decor. In addition to this DIY wedding centerpiece, we also created a stunning Welcome Sign. Before you start on this centerpiece, don’t miss our tutorial on making a Welcome Wedding Sign! It’s so cute!

Welcome Wedding Sign

Ok, so if you would have told us that it was safe to DIY your own wedding centerpieces we wouldn’t have believed it. But, after discovering the DIY Flower Kits from FiftyFlowers and trying it for ourselves, we’re here to say that you totally can and not only did it turn out super cute but we had a ton of fun doing it! And before you get all, yeah but you’re “Wedding Chicks”. True, but we’re not florists. We’re just a couple girls with a passion for weddings and a dream. Now grab your clippers and let’s DIY!

DIY wedding centerpiece

We may just be a little (ok, a lot) excited about the fact that COLOR is going to be BIG for weddings in 2024/25. So, we knew that we wanted to create something colorful for this DIY. We started by finding a DIY floral kit from FiftyFlowers that spoke to us, and we fell in LOVE with the Ethereal Garden Flower Combo Pack. We decided to use these pretty pastels as the jumping-off point for our color palette and went with a rainbow color block design.

what you’ll need

ethereal gardens diy flower pack from Fifty Flowers

step-by-step guide

rainbow wedding inspiration from Fifty Flowers

  1. Cut your foam to size (remember, make it a smidge smaller than your vase, as the foam will grow a tiny bit from the water and our goal is to make sure our foam can’t be seen) and soak for 10 minutes.
  2. Place a layer of moss in the bottom of your large vase and place the foam on top of it.
  3. Divide up your flowers so you know which ones will go in which vessel, saving the largest bundle for the large vessel in the center of the table.
  4. Insert stems into the foam keeping bunches of the same color/flower together to get that color block effect.

how to diy wedding flowers with Fifty Flowers

There’s a good chance you’re going to have a handful of flowers available from your DIY pack once you’re done with your DIY. Take these short stems and place them in tiny vases (pro tip: double shot glasses make perfect tiny vases). To keep with our color-blocking theme, we organized each tiny vase with its own separate color. The tiny vases are great for filling in some of that empty space in your table design and adding depth, texture, and of course, that hint of whimsy we’re going for. Then, all that’s left to do is set the table. Each place setting was arranged with its own color–the pastel lavender plate had violet candles and lavender scabiosa in the tiny vase. The pastel pink plate was set with the light pink candles and the pink Ohara garden roses in the tiny vase and so on.

why it works

diy wedding inspiration from Fifty Flowers

While you’re welcome to copy this DIY step for step, we encourage you to make it your own. That’s the best part about these DIY kits from FiftyFlowers, the possibilities are endless and there’s something for every vibe. Gone are the days of singular gigantic, perfectly arranged rose centerpieces (thankfully). Smaller, more free, whimsical arrangements are trending for wedding centerpieces and this is why wedding centerpieces have now been added to our list of florals that are safe to DIY. All you need to succeed is…

  1. A defined color palette (we chose pastels)
  2. Curated and complementary flowers and greenery (done and done thanks to FiftyFlowers)
  3. A cohesive collection of vessels for the arrangements (i.e. glass, ceramic, metal)
  4. Pretty tapered candles to fill in the space between arrangements.

pastel rainbow wedding table by Fifty FlowersRadionStudios-42

If you stick to those basic rules, you really can’t go wrong. That being said, there are still a ton of floral line items on your wedding checklist that are best left to the professionals. Seriously, no one needs the floral arch to fall on them during the ceremony. If you decide to give this DIY a try, make sure to tag us @weddingchicks and @fiftyflowers–we can’t wait to see how yours turns out! And be sure to follow @fiftyflowers for even more cool floral DIYs.

4

  1. Choose the Right Candles: Select tall tapered candles in colors that complement your table setting or theme.

  2. Secure the Candles: Use candle holders or candlesticks that are sturdy and can support the height of the candles.

  3. Create a Base: If your candle holders are not tall enough, you can place the candles in a shallow dish or bowl filled with decorative elements like sand, beads, or stones to elevate them.

  4. Ensure Stability: To prevent the candles from tipping over, use adhesive putty or wax to secure them in the holders.

  5. Trim the Wicks: Before lighting the candles, trim the wicks to about ¼ inch to ensure a clean, even burn.

  6. Light Safely: Always place candles away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended while lit.

Since 2024/25 weddings are going to be all about color, we decided to go with a fun sherbert-hued color palette for this project. We fell head over heels for the Ethereal Garden Flower Combo Pack–the rainbow of pastels was perfect for our vision and we loved the variety of textures. Plus, it has daises! We also ordered five bunches of extra Plumosa Fern greenery (you can never have too much) and one box of sheet moss to cover the oasis foam blocks that function as the base and hold the flowers in place while keeping them hydrated. We had so much fun creating these looks and we can’t wait to see how you take these projects and make them your own! Who knows, maybe it’s your wedding we’re writing about next…Happy crafting!

DIY Welcome Sign

what you’ll need

RadionStudios-13

RadionStudios-1

We took a quick trip to Home Depot to pick up any supplies that we didn’t already have at home and the total was just $60! For this project, you will need to cut the wood. You can do it yourself if you have a saw at home, or the nice people at Home Depot will do it for you for free–all you have to do is ask.

step-by-step guide

RadionStudios-6

  1. For the back/base of the welcome sign, you’ll need to cut 1ft off of each piece of wood, leaving you with (2) 2’x3’ pieces and (2) 2’x12” pieces.
  2. Cut one of the 2’x12” pieces of wood in half. This will leave you with (2) 2’x 6” pieces that will be used for the front and bottom of the flower box.
  3. Cut two 6”x6” pieces from the remaining 2’x12” scraps, these will be the sides of the flower box.
  4. Use nails to assemble the flower box (or a nail gun because that definitely made our life a lot easier!).
  5. Use the all-purpose wood filler to fill the nail holes for that flawless look.
  6. Sand the edges of all of your wood pieces.
  7. To paint or not to paint- This is a good point to decide if you’re to paint your sign. We tested some paint on some of the scraps of wood to see how it would look and decided we loved the natural look.
  8. Screw on hinges to bring the front and back boards together. You can hide your hinges or leave them exposed. We opted to put the hinges on top to show off the contrast between the natural wood board and the matte black metal.
  9. Apply decals to the flower box. Don’t know what to put on there? Well, you’ve come to the right place, here are a few ideas…

Keep it simple :

HELLO FRIENDSHELLO FRIENDS

HELLO FRIENDS (1)HELLO FRIENDS (2)

Or…have a little fun with it:

HELLO FRIENDS (3)HELLO FRIENDS (4)

HELLO FRIENDS (6)

(But swap in your names!)

Now for the fun part–the flowers!

RadionStudios-12

  1. Line your flower box with foil. The foil will keep your box dry and your florals moist.
  2. Cut your Oasis floral foam to fit in your floral box. Cut the foam slightly smaller than the box, as you’re going to soak the foam and it will grow a tiny amount. Soak your foam for about 10 minutes in water. After the foam is wet, you can insert it into your floral box. If you find that there are gaps between the foam and the box, don’t fret, this will all be covered.
  3. Place moss around all 4 edges of your box, leaving a rectangle of foam visible in the middle. Gently spray your moss with water to keep it happy and fresh.
  4. Place your greenery towards the back of the design.
  5. And finally…Place your flowers distributing them across the foam. This part is fun and somewhat therapeutic. If you have any fun filler flowers (like the daisies) insert these towards the front and sides to give the design a completed look.
  6. Once you’re happy with how your flowers are arranged, place more moss in any gaps or areas where foam is visible.
  7. Give your moss another quick little spritz of water and your welcome sign is now complete!

Once completed, your florals should last you a few days, as the foam will keep your flowers nice and moist. If necessary, continue to add a little extra water to your foam each day to ensure your flowers are staying hydrated.

styling ideas for your welcome sign

RadionStudios-71

We love the idea of bringing in candles to bring some extra warmth and fill the space around your sign. We paired colorful pillar candles and hurricane vases together and placed them around the sign. Hurricane vases are always a good idea when you have candles in a high-traffic area (let’s not light anyone on fire!) or outdoors–protecting those flames is a must!

Now all that’s left is to try it out. We recommend making the wood base well before your wedding to minimize any stress. And play with your floral arranging abilities in advance too. You could even use your practice display for your engagement party or bridal shower.

pressed flower arrangement

As you’ve no doubt been told a million times already, your wedding will be over in the blink of an eye. So, it’s no wonder that we’re a little obsessed with preserving the special moment that you likely worked on for a year (if not more!). And sure, photos are cool and definitely a must, but there’s something about seeing an actual keepsake from that day that can really bring you back. And, believe it or not, your wedding bouquet makes the perfect wedding-day keepsake. We know you’ve seen it popping up on your Pinterest feed (thanks to the almighty algorithm) so here are all the [actually attractive] ways you can preserve your wedding bouquet. Photo from here.

Pressed and framed

For Keeps Florals Pressed Wedding Flower Frame copy

You’ll notice that this is one of the only examples of dried/pressed florals that we picked and that’s for good reason. Dried flowers can go from joyful to morbid real quick. In fact, you’ll notice that a lot of these preserved floral artists do memorial work as well. We love this specific piece because it is artfully arranged, the flowers are still vibrant and held their color well, and we also love that the artist incorporated the wedding invitation into the composition, so there’s no confusion as to what’s being commemorated.

For Keeps Florals, a California-based shop serving nationwide, specializing in preserving bridal bouquets and other cherished flowers in custom frames and art displays. With expert preservation, handmade designs, and personalized frames, they’re setting the standard in wedding flower preservation.

Ring

ring made from wedding flowers

We’ve seen a lot of pressed flower and resin flower jewelry, but this one stood out to us because it was so subtle and delicate. This ring is great for everyday wear, especially if you don’t plan on wearing your engagement ring or wedding band on the reg. We also love that it’s not overtly floral, it kind of looks like a crystal until you get close up.

Wooden Tray & Ornaments

Bupp Wood Works

Having your wedding flowers preserved into a wooden tray with resin is a unique and beautiful way to cherish your special day forever. Not only does it allow you to preserve the natural beauty and essence of your flowers, but it also creates a stunning piece of art that you can proudly display in your home. T

he process involves carefully drying and pressing the flowers, arranging them into a design, and encasing them in a clear resin that hardens to create a durable and protective layer. This method of preservation ensures that your flowers remain vibrant and intact for years to come, and the wooden tray adds a rustic and natural touch that complements any decor style. Whether you choose to display it on your mantle or use it as a centerpiece on your dining table, a preserved floral tray is a wonderful way to capture the beauty and memories of your special day. Shop this gorgeous tray and many other handmade keepsakes from Bupp Woodworks and Designs.

Minimalist sign

minimalist sign made from wedding flowers

So florals don’t really go with your decor? No prob! Check out these chic minimalist signs created with resin and dried flower petals from your bouquet. Whether you get your new married name or the date of your wedding, you can’t go wrong with this unique take on bouquet preservation.

Decorative block

resin block with wedding bouquet

If you actually want to see your flowers, like really see them, this is the way to go. These resin blocks are the closest thing we’ve seen to having your actual bouquet on display. Resin keeps all of the colors preserved and captures the essence of each of the flowers beautifully. A block like this makes a great conversation piece for on your mantle or bookshelf.

Ring holder

ring holder made from wedding flowers

Does it get any more apropos than a ring holder made from your wedding bouquet? And seriously, how gorg are these?! We may recreate our wedding bouquet just to have one of these babies made…just sayin’.

Decorative letter

resin letter made from wedding bouquet

While still very much floral, we like that these resin letters don’t scream bouquet. They make perfect decorative accents for any room in your home and serve as a subtle reminder of your wedding day.

Pressed flower tray

gold pressed flower tray

With a quick Etsy search, you’ll notice that there are a lot of these babies out there, but we picked this one because we thought the gold leaf technique was unique. You can use these trays to serve drinks or as a vanity tray to organize all of your favorite perfumes and beauty essentials.

Custom coasters

coasters made from wedding flowers

By far, this is the most practical use of your wedding bouquet. Who doesn’t need coasters? And these ones are so pretty! We love that this artist kept the edges organic and used different flowers and pieces of greenery for each coaster giving them all a unique look.

Dried floral dome

dried wedding flowers in dome

And while we probably scared you away from dried flowers already, this one was worth sharing because it was just that pretty! This artist was able to conserve the bright colors and we love the vertical arrangement. Plus, the little girl in us can’t get over the Beauty & the Beast vibes…

Wedding Invitations are one of the first expenses to come out of your budget, and while they may look simple, those pretty piles of paper can have you spending some serious paper. Pinterest is practically overflowing with adorable stationery ideas, but those stunning custom suites have the average couple spending thousands on invitations alone, not to mention all of the add-ons. Don’t get us wrong, custom invitations are works of art and are well worth the investment if you’ve got it to spend, but for many couples that simply isn’t in the cards (pun intended). Thankfully the printable options are getting way cuter with most of them taking inspiration from those dreamy hand-crafted stunners. But, if none of the easy-order printed invites are quite what you envisioned, we’ve got some easy and affordable DIY hacks for giving your printed invites that bespoke feel.

Did you know that we have a huge collection of printable invitation suites right here on Wedding Chicks? AND THEY’RE FREE! So check it out and put that extra money in your pocket for those designer shoes you’ve been dreaming of. You’re welcome 😉

Envelopes and Liners

Give Your Printed Invites A DIY Glow UpPhoto:

Most websites and companies offering printable invitations, like Minted, have the option to include matching envelopes and some offer custom liners as well. This is a quick and affordable way to give your invites an added pop. If the company you’re ordering from does not have an envelope or liner option, there are plenty of great places to buy these babies online (and in bulk!) like Envelopes.com. If you’re really crafty, you can design your own envelope liner with Zazzle

Calligraphy

Give Your Printed Invites A DIY Glow UpPhoto:

Hands down, calligraphy is the best way to elevate your wedding invitation suite. There’s something about calligraphy that makes everything look more expensive (because it usually is!). But, there are a few ways to cheat the system. The first option is to select a calligraphy font on whatever website you are ordering from. The key to getting that hand-done look is to select a font that’s not too perfect, so before you check out their calligraphy font suggestions, take a peek at the handwriting category if they have one. If it’s an option, go ahead and pay the additional to have your envelopes addressed and printed by the company that is printing your invitations and use the same calligraphy font for the addresses as well. Another way to get the look is to actually do it yourself. Not already a calligraphy master? Don’t sweat it! There are a ton of great tutorials out there like this one by Amanda Lee and beginner calligraphy kits to get you started. We also came across this tutorial that shows how to use a Cricut machine (if you have one) to get perfect printed lettering that looks like you did it all by hand!

Custom Stamps

Give Your Printed Invites A DIY Glow UpPhoto:

Stamps often go overlooked when it comes to wedding invitations, but a good stamp can add a ton to the overall presentation. Similarly, if you just go with whatever they’ve got at the post office, it can take even the prettiest invites down a few pegs. Don’t know where to look? Check out The Little Postage House, a company that collects and sells vintage postage sets. Choose from one of their curated sets that are sorted by theme and color or request a consultation for a custom set that captures your wedding design and personality. You can also shop for themed stamps on the USPS website where they have a much larger selection than your local post office.

Wax Seals

Give Your Printed Invites A DIY Glow UpPhoto:

You knew this was coming. Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned wax seal? And, they’re super easy to DIY! There are a ton of pre-made seal options and customizable templates on Etsy. Go with something classic like a floral pattern or make it super custom with a monogram. Now that you’ve got the seal, let’s talk wax. You can do it like they did back in the day by melting a wax stick and dripping it onto your sealed envelope, or you can use the modern method where you put wax sticks into a glue gun and add the wax to the envelope that way. We recommend the latter, though the old-fashioned way does come out looking slightly more organic. If that all sounds like too much work, there are companies that create the wax seal for you and add an adhesive to the back, so all that’s left to do is stick it on. Keep in mind that letters with wax seals cannot be put through the sorting machine at the post office and will need to be hand-canceled. For some added drama add some dried flowers to your wax seal, because, why not?

Not Your Average Floral Preservation

There is so much that goes into the details of a wedding and often times price is the biggest factor. In deciding what is worth the price, something we see couples consider is the longevity of their details outside of the wedding itself. Are your favors something you have use for if there are 50 left over at the end of the night? Can you reuse any of your signage as at home decor?

Something we hear a lot is the back and forth between what to spend money on and where to save. Florals are often high up on the list of details of which have a short “shelf life” – they add so much to the atmosphere and visuals of a wedding, but don’t last much longer than that.

Floral Preservation in the Form of Forever Art

Not Your Average Floral PreservationNot Your Average Floral Preservation

Having a way to preserve your florals (without it being pressed into your wedding album only to crumble out when you go to open it 40 years down the road) is the solution we’ve been waiting for and let us tell you, Bloomist does it right. How? By offering unique floral bouquet preservation in the form of beautiful forever art. In addition to bouquet preservation, bloomist offers bespoke wedding stationery and day of signage made with mostly locally gathered wild flowers or flowers from Telnaz’s own garden.

The very idea that flowers die so quickly made Telnaz Mazidi, Designer & Artisan of Bloomist sad and is what lead her to learn about preservation techniques. Starting by pressing and preserving flowers as a way to bring nature inside panned out to be the perfect solution for brides as well.

Bloomist’s goal is to preserve the nature within your bouquet and give you a way in which to remember and admire the florals from your special day for many years!

A Modern Way To Preserve Your Bouquet

Not Your Average Floral Preservation

Couples love her whimsicle, airy and organic aesthetics of her work, which gives couples a modern and non-traditional way to preserve flowers. The best part? All your flowers from your bouquet can be used – not just the easy to press ones!

Feel good about splurging on the bouquet of your dreams knowing you’ll get to enjoy it for more than just your big day.

Want to Preserve Your Wedding Flowers? We Know Exactly Where You Should Go

There are so many elements of a wedding event that can instantly take you back to the day you said “I do.” Off the top of our heads: What you wore, what you smelled like, what you ate, who you spent the day with, etc. Everything can be a reminder, even and especially, the wedding photos. But it’s the concept of preservation — something from the day itself, being totally locked in time — that really gives us all the feels and makes us happier that it happened, rather than sad that it’s over. A floral bouquet, something perfectly curated and arranged, with carefully-chosen colors and brilliant blooms, is one of our FAVORITE preservable items in a bride’s trousseau, and it’s something that Bonnie’s Blooms has completely bested over the years. So, if you’re already starting to mourn the mere thought of your wedding flowers dying after your big day, then you’ll definitely want to game plan their second life well before you need to.

A seed planted in 2018 has bloomed into a beautiful business

Want to Preserve Your Wedding Flowers? We Know Exactly Where You Should Go

Bonnie’s Blooms started in 2018, when Bonnie (the boss behind the namesake brand) and her husband got married. They had spent thousands of dollars on their wedding flowers, and didn’t want them to be thrown in the trash after the big day. So, before they left for their honeymoon, Bonnie decided to take apart her bouquet and put the flower petals into coffee table books.

After a few weeks of the flowers drying and flattening in books, Bonnie removed and arranged the petals in a frame, flawlessly flanking her wedding invitation. The piece of art became a sentimental staple in their home and the first piece that prompted friends and family to ask if Bonnie could replicate her magic for them.

She started taking on customers and trying different pressing techniques. At one point, she was microwaving flowers to speed up the pressing process and to maximize color retention. But she ultimately learned that a traditional wood press yielded the best, most aesthetically-pleasing preserved flowers so she began building her own impressive presses. No big deal, right… #BornToBeAMaker

Bonnie’s process starts with deconstructing fresh wedding bouquets and retiring them into the capable hand’s of her handmade wood presses. The flowers are flattened and dried for approximately six weeks, at which they’re removed and organized into a unique, colossally-creative design. No preservatives or color enhancements are added during or after pressing, but the final artwork lasts years, generations, even, if displayed properly.

And for the flower diehards out there, here’s a few other ways she can bring beauty into your life

I’ll first say that I’ve been married for 8 years, and I failed miserably to do something with my flowers — which I LOVED and obsessed over for the entirety of my engagement, I’ll have you know — but Bonnie is amazingly-talented, and if I could do it all over again… this is precisely what I’d do.

Feel free to pluck some of these ideas as your own

And, let’s face it, some of us are craftier than others, so it’s important to be realistic with your abilities and your free time. If done right, you can save a ton of money by doing some of the less visible decor and favors yourself, but when it comes down to the big stuff, it is definitely best to leave that to the professionals. Printables

envelope wall

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto:

An envelope wall is a super easy and visually striking way to help your guests find their seats. All you have to do is buy envelopes in your wedding color palette, print your guests’ names on the flap, and get some hot glue or double-stick tape and fix them to a board! Feel free to get creative with the colors and the shape of the board.

Favors

This is a great place to start when you’re dipping your toes into the murky waters of DIY. Wedding favors can be hit or miss, but you can’t go wrong with something your guests can use in their everyday lives or, better yet, eat then and there. Here are a few easy DIY favors that are sure to be a hit.

Candles

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto/Candles:

This may seem difficult, but making your own candles isn’t as scary as it sounds and there are plenty of tutorials available online. You can pick up candle-making supplies at your local craft store and get cute printable label templates online.

Sweets

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto/Cake Pops:

If you’re a baker, then an edible favor is a great DIY project for you! Try this cake pop tutorial from Oh Sweet Day and play with the colors to coordinate with your wedding design. Your guests will love this tasty treat!

Infused Olive Oil

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto/Olive Oil Favors:

For this DIY project, all you need is your favorite olive oil, some cute containers, and your favorite herbs. How easy is that? And you know your guests will use them!

Table decor

Talk to your wedding planner about helping with the table decor. Instead of spending a ton on costly rentals, ask what types of items they were going to use and try to find them yourself at your local thrift stores or try your hand at DIYing them.

Upcycle thrifted items

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto:

Items like vases, candlesticks, and vintage china can easily be found at your local thrift stores. They may require a little TLC and it will definitely have that mix-and-match vibe, but as long as that fits with your aesthetic, thrifting your table decor can help you save big.

Table Numbers

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto/Table Numbers:

Whether you paint them or use your Cricut machine (if you’re extra crafty), making beautiful table numbers is a DIY no-brainer!

Handwritten Vows

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto/Vows:

If you have some spare time on your hands, learning calligraphy can really come in handy. Check out a few tutorials on youtube and invest in a calligraphy kit to DIY your handwritten wedding vows. They’ll look great and make for a great keepsake after the wedding!

Welcome Bags

Beginner Friendly DIY Projects For Your Wedding That You Won’t Regret LaterPhoto/Bag:

Now, we’re not telling you to make the bag itself (although if you’re feeling bold you totally could), but assembling your own welcome bag can be fun and will definitely save you a lot of money in the long run. Buy snacks and favors in bulk online and from local vendors to show your guests how happy you are to have them in town for your big day.
